Volume 10: The Observed Person Is Somewhat Happy

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

Xia Youyou was a little happy.

She originally thought that the lost slippers would never be found, and was wondering if she would trouble my aunt to buy her a new pair of slippers.  Although there are slippers from grandma, father, and mother at home, she doesn't want to touch those.

The missing slippers were bought by my mother. They are a bit bigger than her feet. Before, she often accidentally kicked the corner of the wall or the foot of the cabinet. With this pair of big slippers, she will not hurt her toes.

In the morning, she lay on the sofa and thought, the slippers her mother gave are gone, and the small wooden shovel my father gave is gone. Not only the parents, but also the things they left behind are slowly disappearing?

Unexpectedly, when she was going to the toilet, she actually stepped on that slipper.

She happily put on her long-lost slippers and went to find the small wooden shovel.  It's a pity that the little wooden shovel still doesn't know where to hide.

Maybe one day in the future, a small wooden shovel will pop up out of the blue and startle her, just like a slipper.

Where did the small wooden shovel and slippers go when the time disappeared?

She wanted to have fantastic ideas, but she knew that the small wooden shovel and slippers were just quietly in a corner she couldn't see.

Without the small wooden shovel, she can only use a large pot and a large shovel to cook. She knew it originally, and her parents made her familiar with it.  But after grandma came, she had never cooked, and her experience had degraded.

People with discerning eyes will turn their faces to the pot when cooking, and they want to see the vegetables in the pot, but blind people will tilt their heads when cooking, and point their ears to the pot, and they want to listen to the vegetables in the pot.

Changing the pot and shovel not only changed the feel, but also the sense of hearing, which made her poor cooking skills even worse.

After eating unpalatable dishes, her mood sank again.

After washing the dishes, she picked up the broom and went to clean the balcony.

She took out the intact succulent and prickly pear with her hands, and the prickly prickly pricked her hand.

She carefully took out the succulent and intact pots that had fallen on the ground.  She couldn't see it, so she could only restore it by hand.

In the evening, there was a knock on the door. She walked to the door and asked, "Who is it?"

If it was before, she would open the door directly.

Half a month ago, she heard a knock on the door at home. She thought it was her aunt who had come, so she opened the door directly. Unexpectedly, there was no movement outside the door.

If there was no one, how could the door rang?  She put on her outdoor shoes in doubt, and walked into the corridor, wanting to explore.  After taking two steps, she thought of a movie she had seen before. In the movie, the murderer knocked on the door, hid behind the door, and waited for the master to come out of the house, holding him hostage.

Is some criminal hiding behind the door?

She was very flustered, hurried back to the house, and closed the door.

Turning on the TV, turning up the volume, and listening to the human voice inside, she felt at ease.

Maybe it was some brat who knocked on the door and ran away.  she thinks.

Since then, she always asks first when she hears a knock on the door.

"It's me!" My aunt's voice came from outside the door.

She opened the door and a hand grabbed her wrist.  It was my aunt's palm, which was very big and rough.

"I'm going to the country for a few days. I'm not sure about the exact days. I'll bring you something that can last for a long time."

Auntie's voice reached her ears, and two bags were stuffed into her hands.

    "Thank you, auntie." She said.

    There was a sudden silence.

Her heart twitched, and what she feared most was silence. Her world was a black mist, through which only sound could pass through. Once there was no sound, she would not know what was going on around her.

Is Auntie still there?  Will he leave suddenly?

Half a minute later, my aunt's voice sounded again: "Do you want to go to the countryside with me?"

Her heart trembled, and her heart beat faster.

    She said: "No."

My aunt is willing, but my uncle may have objections.

On the third day after grandma's death, my aunt talked to her, asking her if she would like to live together, but she didn't agree.  After a night, my aunt didn't mention this matter again, probably because my uncle objected.

"Just go to the countryside for a few days, just a few days." My aunt persuaded.

    She shook her head.

She didn't want to trouble her aunt, and she was afraid of her cousin.

Once three years ago, she went to her aunt's house with her parents.  She could still see some at that time, but she couldn't see clearly. Her parents and uncle had gone out, and her aunt was cooking in the kitchen.  She fumbled to go to the toilet, and when she walked past the outside sink, she looked back and saw a dark figure.

The black shadow receded immediately,?I didn't think much about it at the time, but after going to the toilet, I realized that the black shadow might want to follow her into the toilet.  There is only her, aunt and cousin at home, so it doesn't matter who Sombra is.

Because she didn't see the truth, she didn't tell her parents about it. The relationship between her family and her aunt's family is not very close.

"If you don't go, your cousin said he doesn't really want to go, why don't you let him come and accompany you?" Auntie said again.

    She shook her head hastily.

"You're bored at home alone" Auntie sighed, "If I'm sure I'll be back someday, I'll send you a WeChat message."

    "Goodbye, Auntie."

She stood at the door, listening to the footsteps going down slowly.

Putting two bags of ingredients into the refrigerator, she lay down on the sofa. The temperature in mid-June was a bit high, and the top floor was hotter than other floors, and she felt stuffy.

She thought of things randomly.  After she became blind, touch and hearing became her main ways of perceiving the world. Her favorite thing was to lie on her mother's lap and listen to her father's rambling talk.

Thinking about it, tears fell from the corners of her eyes. She rubbed her eyes and turned on the TV

In the morning, Qiu Sheng arrived and found that the girl woke up, ate two slices of bread, collapsed on the sofa and did not move.

    What's wrong with this?

Didn't you find the slippers?  Wasn't it fun yesterday?

Qiu Sheng didn't understand, and he didn't really want to understand. He came to the kitchen and turned the wooden shovel lying on the window sill, half of which was hanging outside.

When the girl finds the wooden shovel, she should be happier.

Just don't know when the girl will find the wooden shovel.

This time is faster than Qiu Sheng imagined.  Today was Monday, and he had already skipped the first class in the morning, so he simply stayed until noon.

The girl went to the kitchen to make lunch.  She took out the rice wrapped in plastic wrap from the refrigerator, put it in the microwave to heat it, then washed the pot and shovel, and took out the ingredients.

The sink is a double sink, and she turned the faucet in the right sink to the left, touching the part of the wooden shovel hanging outside the window sill.

When the wooden shovel fell into the pool, she backed away in fright, and it took a long time before she dared to step forward.

She clapped her hands so that if it was a hearing bug, it would go away on its own.  Then she stirred the pool with a shovel, and the wooden shovel hit the wall of the pool, making a sound.

This familiar voice surprised the girl. She picked up the wooden shovel and smiled.

Qiu Sheng leaned against the refrigerator, staring at the corners of her lips.
