    Chapter 1 Tutor

It rained heavily in early autumn, and the gray cumulus clouds above our heads dispersed, revealing a bright blue sky.

Feng Shizhen was sitting in the bright small side hall of the Rong family, immersed in solving math problems.

The servants of the Rong family walked up and down the aisle, and the spring door of the kitchen opened and closed, making a creaking sound.  The strong aroma of the food was brought over and penetrated into Feng Shizhen's nose.

It was almost noon, and Feng Shizhen, who had only had a bowl of gruel since he woke up early in the morning, could not control the drumming in his stomach.

There was a crash, and the cook scolded the busboy at the top of her voice: "You little red guy, the eldest lady is allergic to sea fish. If you peel off the shrimp shells and mix it with the salad, are you going to kill someone?"

The waiter hurriedly ran across the aisle and stood at the door of the kitchen shouting: "If the young master doesn't come down for lunch, please bring a bowl of shrimp wontons with an extra spoonful of chili."

"My wife is at home, why don't you come down to eat?" an old aunt said garrulously, "My wife is busy interviewing the eldest young master as a tutor, he should come down and have a look."

¡°I just came back from Chongqing and I¡¯m not used to our food.¡±

¡°I think I just don¡¯t want to eat at the same table with my wife.¡±

"So what. I'm going to study abroad anyway"

"You are so nosy, what are you doing here to join the security arrest team in the patrol room!" The middle-aged steward came over and scolded, and the chatter in the kitchen immediately fell down.

The steward turned around and entered the side hall and said to Feng Shizhen, "Miss Feng, my wife invites you to come to the study."

Feng Shizhen put away the papers and followed the steward through the magnificent front hall of the Rong family.  I saw the door of the study room opened, and a woman wearing a dark blue shirt and skirt hurriedly walked out. Without looking at others, she hugged the schoolbag in her arms tightly and left without looking back.

This is the young lady who interviewed as a tutor before Feng Shizhen, and she obviously failed.

¡° I hire a tutor for young masters and young ladies, but they are so picky and have to take exams.  Feng Shizhen also saw it for the first time.  The style of the Rong family is indeed the first in Shanghai.

The steward knocked on the door of the study room, and a male voice said yes inside.

The Rong family¡¯s study room is quite large, with tall bookcases placed on three sides, and a large floor-to-ceiling window facing the lawn behind.

A beautiful woman in her thirties was sitting on a high-backed sofa, slowly sipping black tea.  Behind the large red oak desk, a man wearing a gray gown sat.

The man was only in his twenties. He was handsome and elegant, but he was unsmiling.  He glanced at Feng Shizhen up and down through his gold-rimmed glasses, then lowered his head and began to look at the papers she had prepared.  Mrs. Rong has fashionable short curly hair and wears a narrow-fitting cheongsam in dark purple with gold accents. The hem is half an inch shorter, revealing her slender snow-white ankles.

Feng Shizhen stood by the coffee table and respectfully said hello to Mrs. Rong.

A young woman in her early twenties, tall, with a straight back and a straight body, without any jewelry.  Feng Shizhen has a soft and friendly oval face, unmodified eyebrows and elegant eyes, and porcelain white skin that is so smooth that it makes people jealous.  She has long, thick black hair tied into a braid and tied behind her head. She wears a wide-body cheongsam made of bamboo green with bamboo leaf patterns, which is just right for her simplicity and dignity.  She stood there slim and graceful, and the fragrance of green grass after the rain hit her face.

"Miss Feng, please sit down." Mrs. Rong was quite polite and asked the servants to pour tea for Feng Shizhen, "I see you have a letter of recommendation from Mr. Pei Dongren, but are you Mr. Pei's disciple?"

Feng Shizhen said modestly: "I'm not honored to be accepted by the old gentleman as my disciple. I just followed my senior brothers and sisters to listen to the old gentleman's lectures and helped organize the book collection. The senior wife likes us juniors to be lively and often invites us over to have tea."

Mrs. Rong nodded, "Mr. Pei is highly respected and a leading figure in the literary world. Although our Rong family is a prosperous business family, we respect him very much. Where does Miss Feng live and what do her parents do?"

Feng Shizhen said: "My family was originally located in Wenchunli, Hongkou, and my father opened a Chinese and Western medicine store. It was closed due to poor management a while ago. After I graduated from college, I have been teaching English, French and mathematics at the girls' cram school in Muertang.  Later, I taught night class mathematics in a cram school run by Tongwen College. I taught from elementary school to middle school. Even in university courses, I can also tutor one or two."

Feng Shizhen said something, and Mrs. Rong nodded.  Feng Shizhen spoke in an orderly manner with a slight Jinling accent, which made Mrs. Rong, whose natal family is from Nanjing, feel friendly. Her eyes gradually softened as she watched Feng Shizhen.

At this time, the man finally finished reading the paper and handed it to Mrs. Rong.  Mrs. Rong glanced at it and immediatelyHe smiled with satisfaction.

"As expected of a top student at Jinling Women's University, with perfect scores in every aspect!" Mrs. Rong said, "Xiucheng said that he picked difficult questions from foreign university textbooks, and several female teachers who applied before could not answer them. Miss Feng  Still the first to do everything right.¡±

Feng Shizhen smiled shyly and lowered his head, "You are so generous."

Mrs. Rong put down the test paper, looked at the innocent young girl in front of her, and said: "Miss Feng should not be aware of the situation in our family. The eldest son of the family has been studying in the military academy in Chongqing and only came back last month. The child delayed his studies in Chongqing.  , The grades are not enough to go to college. The eldest lady is turning sixteen this year, and the second lady is half a year younger than her. They both want to enter a Chinese and Western girls' school and need tutoring in English. The following children are still young, so there is no need to teach them for the time being. "

Feng Shizhen said: "Don't worry, madam, I tutored middle school students with homework when I was in school. I have also been attending cram schools in the past few years, and I am especially good at preparing for exams."

Mrs. Rong nodded, "The other children in the family are fine, but the eldest son needs more work from you. He misses a lot of school. I'm worried that you are not a few years older than him, and I'm also afraid that he won't obey your discipline."

Feng Shizhen smiled slightly and said: "I have also taught male students who are taking the college entrance examination. If they act like a gentleman, they can still be controlled."

Mrs. Rong said: "Then it's settled. You will get twenty yuan a month. If you teach well, I will give you an increase. If the young master can successfully enter college next year, there will be a big reward. Miss Feng, whenever is convenient  move in?"

Feng Shizhen breathed a sigh of relief, and smiled instantly, with a pure and bright face, "I still need to go home and report to my parents. How about the day after tomorrow?"

Mrs. Rong agreed, and advanced Feng Shizhen's salary of ten yuan on the spot, asked the old woman to tailor her uniform, and left Feng Shizhen for lunch before leaving.

Feng Shizhen declined continuously.  Mrs. Rong asked the waiter to call a rickshaw at the intersection and send Feng Shizhen away.

Yang Xiucheng flipped through the sheets on the table and said to Mrs. Rong: "Cousin, there are five more people here. Do you still want to make an appointment?"

"No." Mrs. Rong lazily leaned back on the sofa. Recalling Feng Shizhen's innocent, shy and pretending to be calm appearance, she couldn't help but sneer, "That's her. She is well-educated, elegant and clean. Isn't that what that person likes most?  Even if you don¡¯t know how to fall into traps, it¡¯s enough to make Mr. Sun uncomfortable for a while. Don¡¯t think that you¡¯re pregnant and your brother is a comprador, so you just want to climb up and be your equal wife!¡±

Yang Xiucheng kneaded the remaining qualifications list one by one, threw it into the ashtray, struck a match and lit it.

"Has my cousin read the story of Wu Zetian?"

"I know what you are worried about." Mrs. Rong smiled, "If I were my Jiaxin, he would be taller than me. I also have a son. His father didn't keep him"

Speaking of her biological son who died young, Mrs. Rong felt a pain in her heart and turned away while choking.

Yang Xiucheng pretended not to see the mercury in the corner of her eyes, and rang the bell to ask the servants to clean up the ashes on the table.

The old lady opened the door, and a gust of wind came in, carrying the ashes in the ashtray and flying up, like a black butterfly spreading its wings and flying towards the unknown world outside the door.  #####(Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
