In August, the History Department of Boyang University took the lead in organizing an academic seminar to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the Revolution of 1911. History departments from universities across the country were invited to Beijing. The event was planned to last for half a month. During this period, the guests lived in Baiyang University.  Yang University, so the host's food, clothing, housing and transportation need to be carefully taken care of. This requires some college students staying in the school to help with the reception. This is not only to be courteous and considerate, but also to give their children some experience.

There are many visitors. The head teacher, Mr. Fu, told the class about this before the holiday and asked interested students to sign up. He also said that there would be subsidies.  Rui He didn't care about the subsidy. He was interested in this opportunity to learn. After one semester of study, he had deeply realized his own insignificance. The more he learned, the more he felt his shortcomings.

The world is vast and the sea of ??learning has no boundaries. He still has a long way to go.

Therefore, Ruihe was not willing to miss such a good opportunity to practice in his first year of college.  He signed up and successfully entered the project, and he was very happy even if he was only the most peripheral receptionist.

In the dormitory, Zhu Hongxing had gone back because he missed his wife and children. Ma Chenggong said he wanted to stay and do social practice. His family shouted heartily that they missed him very much and told him to go home during the summer vacation to his grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc.  Let your loved ones take a look, otherwise you won¡¯t be at ease.  So Ma Chenggong also went back.

Therefore, there were three people in the dormitory: Chen Ping'an, Lu Anping and Rui He. The three of them were assigned different tasks. Rui He was arranged to go to the station to greet the guests.

Beginning on July 20, academic research teams from foreign universities began to arrive in Kyoto, and Ruihe¡¯s work began.  Together with other classmates and teachers, he travels between school and the station several times a day to receive guests, helping them carry their luggage, guide them, pour water and deliver food, making sure they feel at home and have a comfortable journey to Boyang University.

After receiving guests for nearly half a month, Ruihe learned a lot.  Teams from other universities are usually led by professors, who should be students they like. While they were sitting in the car, the professors were still answering questions for the students. There were often conversations in the smoothly driving bus.  Ruihe, who was at the front of the car, listened carefully and took notes from time to time.

On August 1st, the academic seminar officially began in the large conference room on the fourth floor of the library.  Rui He was able to listen outside the door. Lu Anping and Chen Pingan both stood upright beside him, holding paper and pen in their hands.  Teacher Fu said that you can listen in, but you must pay attention to your manners and don't let the guests see them standing crookedly.

After standing like this for thirteen days, Ruihe's legs were almost stiff and he wrote down a book full of notes.

Teacher Fu: "It doesn't matter if you can't understand it now. Write it down first and think about it slowly later. When we study history, we don't want to follow others' opinions, and we don't just accept what others have left behind. Think about it! You have to have your own ideas."

Starting from August 14th, Ruihe started the work of sending guests to the station again.  Three of the universities planned to visit Kyoto's scenic spots and historic sites, including the Old Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, the Capital Library and other places. Ruihe and his classmates also served as tour guides several times.  Although he was said to be a tour guide, in fact Ruihe had never been to many places before. He was lucky enough to listen to professors and students talking about ancient times together, and came back with a head full of old historical news.

It wasn¡¯t until August 22nd, when the last batch of university academic research teams left Kyoto, that Ruihe was completely free.  It is unimaginable that he lost four or five pounds in this month.

The first summer vacation at Kyoto Bayan University slipped away so quickly.  In the following days, Ruihe went to the library every day, and occasionally went to the teacher's dormitory to ask questions to the teacher.  In the final exam this semester, he only ranked seventh in his class. Although he didn't get a scholarship, he did receive an inspirational scholarship of 40 yuan given to poor students by the state.

At the end of August, freshmen from the Class of 78 came to campus one after another. Rui He always saw many strange and excited faces while riding his bicycle on campus every day - just like when he arrived at the beginning of the year.  He was quite emotional. At the beginning, he was also so mixed with anxiety and complacency.

The arrival of freshmen also brought new changes to his dormitory. The vacant bed in the dormitory was occupied by a freshman majoring in history in the class of 1978, named Jin Yulu, who is twenty-five years old this year.  Therefore, although he was a freshman, he was ranked second in the dormitory due to his age and successfully squeezed out Ma.

The jokingly arranged seniority hierarchy in the dormitory was not so easy to change at the beginning.

The new Jin Yulu didn't fit into the dormitory at the beginning. He was shy and rarely talked. This kind of reticence was different from Chen Pingan. Chen Pingan had a kind of arrogant temperament. He was  I don't like to talk, and I immerse myself in books every day, but; Jin Yulu's face wrinkled up in confusion, and he nodded hesitantly after making a very difficult decision: "Go." Going on an inspection with the archaeological team is a good opportunity to combine theory with practical application.

Ma Chenggong burst into laughter: "I'm afraid that if you see Professor Zhou roll your eyes and hear him snort, you will be so frightened that you cry and demand to come back."

Jin Yulu lowered his head, his face turned red like a big tomato.

Zhu Hongxing said hurriedly: "Okay, stop teasing me, you don't know he is shy." He smoothed things over, "Professor Zhou is a little serious, but in fact I am a little afraid to get close to him."

This is an exaggeration, but Jin Yulu was obviously comforted. Nuonuo said: "Professor Zhou is so similar to my grandfather, I'm a little scared."

Everyone has heard him say that his grandfather used to be a calligrapher and was very strict with him. He had been very strict with him since he was a child. He started learning Chinese calligraphy when he was five years old. If he couldn't write well, he would make a handwriting calligraphy.  Let him hang out.  Grandpa is also stern and can almost be said to be Jin Yulu¡¯s childhood nightmare. He is loved and feared at the same time.  There were mass strife in the past few years, and Grandpa Jin was also involved. He was unemployed at home, so he started teaching his grandson in his free time.  It's hard to say that his current introverted temperament has nothing to do with his grandfather's teachings.

"Don't be afraid. Professor Zhou is just a little more serious. He is a very nice person." Rui He comforted him, "Look at me, I often disturb the teacher, and the teacher is not impatient. Next time you have any learning problems, just go to him directly."  Go ask Professor Zhou, always asking us to ask for you won¡¯t solve the doubts in your mind. Only by going in person can you communicate with the teacher face to face.¡±

Jin Yulu twisted his fingers: "I'll try my best."

Ruihe packed up his things quickly. In the evening, Lu Anping came back from outside. After closing the door, he said, "Zhang Guoliang and his dormitory are gossiping about you. What happened?"
