Looking at Wells's face, Giffen's heart suddenly thumped. He seemed to feel that Wells was going to bring him bad news!

"Giffin, there is news from Port Moresby that their Mustang fighters taking off from Port Moresby have been intercepted by Chinese carrier-based aircraft. Now they may no longer be able to support us!"

Wells's heavy voice weighed on Giffen's heart. He didn't expect that Wells would bring him a piece of news.

Suddenly, he remembered something. It seemed that the number of carrier-based aircraft dispatched by China was not many, only five or six hundred.

As far as he knows, in the South Pacific region, China has the Pacific Fleet and the Australian Fleet. These two fleets have a total of thirty-six aircraft carriers.  Thirty-six aircraft carriers can take off thousands of carrier-based aircraft directly on the sea.

And when he thought about the situation he was in now, he seemed to understand something.

Giffen rubbed his temples and said: "Order the fleet to retreat immediately! Evacuate to the Solomon Islands. This mission to support Papua Guinea is temporarily abandoned. All responsibilities will be borne by me!"

"Giffin, if we retreat, General Bradley will be in a situation where there are no troops available. The situation on Papua Guinea is very subtle now, and China may occupy the entire island at any time!"

Wells was shocked when he heard Giffin's order.  You know, Bradley now has no troops left in his hands.  Bradley is waiting for the arrival of these 60,000 reinforcements. If they give up this support, Bradley is likely to be defeated, and the entire island of Papua Guinea will be lost.

"I know! But I know even more that if we continue to stay here, our entire fleet will be destroyed. Didn't you realize that this is basically a trap of the Chinese? In the air battle ahead, the Chinese sent  We have twice as many fighters.

They also intercepted the Army Airlines flight taking off from Port Moresby.  As soon as the carrier-based aircraft of our fleet took off for combat, our entire fleet was attacked by the Chinese submarine force.  Until now, we haven't even noticed their shadow.

All of this seems to be a trap. No matter how hard we try and how many carrier-based aircraft we send, they are all intercepted by them.  Now the air battle ahead is about to be lost, and more than half of our carrier-based aircraft have already been lost.

¡°If we don¡¯t leave now, we will face the siege of China¡¯s aircraft fleet, and even their son-of-a-bitch submarines under the sea will always be hiding in the dark, ready to sneak attack us.  By then, not only will the island of Papua Guinea be lost, but even our warships and the more than 60,000 American young men on the troop carriers will be sent to the bottom of the sea to feed the fish by the Chinese Navy!  "

¡°Would Robert C. Giffen not understand these things?  Of course he understood, but looking at the overall situation, it was obvious that he could not continue to maintain his previous plan to reinforce Port Moresby.  Because he believes that this is a trap by China.

The U.S. Atlantic Fleet is still being transferred to the Pacific battlefield. Some Atlantic Fleet ships have been transferred over, but not all of them have been transferred over yet.

If he loses this naval force here, their disadvantage will be even more obvious in the subsequent naval battle between the two countries.

Originally, the total naval strength of China and Citigroup was in an extreme symmetry.

The Citi Navy has a large number of aircraft carriers. Up to now, the Citi Navy has more than 50 aircraft carriers.

It sounds like a lot, but the Essex-class aircraft carrier is not even one-third of it, it can only be said to be close to one-third.

Most of the other aircraft carriers are escort aircraft carriers. Citigroup¡¯s total aircraft carriers will not be able to take off more than 3,000 carrier-based aircraft on the sea.  [It is a carrier-based aircraft. Carrier-based aircraft and carrier-based dive bombers are different.  ¡¿

    And what about China?

The Pacific Fleet and Australian Fleet combined have thirty-six aircraft carriers, including thirty Yanzhou-class aircraft carriers and six Jizhou-class aircraft carriers.  To put it bluntly, the Jizhou-class aircraft carriers are the six that were allocated when the Pacific Fleet was first formed, and all the subsequent ones allocated are Yanzhou-class aircraft carriers.

Thirty Yanzhou-class aircraft carriers can take off 2,460 carrier-based aircraft.  The carrier-based aircraft taking off from China's two fleets are comparable to the carrier-based aircraft that can take off from all the aircraft carriers of the Citizen Navy. Perhaps only the United States itself knows how difficult the battle behind this will be.

The Citi Army retreated decisively. Even the Hellcat carrier-based aircraft that were engaged in air combat on the front line of the Citi Navy turned around and ran away. Just looking at the Chinese carrier-based aircraft chasing them behind them, their fate seemed a bit difficult.

Under the sea, those submarines watched the Citigroup fleet run away, and they did not pursue it. It was not that they did not want to pursue it, but that they could not pursue it because they had no torpedoes.

An Xxi-type submarine only has twenty-three torpedoes.  Among these twelve submarines, few have many torpedoes.  This is also a problem with the Xxi-type submarine, which can only store twenty-three torpedoes.  So they also returned.

They returned. After receiving the news, the Citi Army Air Force's fighter jets also separated from the Chinese Pacific Fleet's carrier-based aircraft, and there was no further fighting.  For the most part, they don't want to lose too much power here either.  After all, there are not many Army aviation fighters left on the island of Papua Guinea.

These five hundred or so Army aviation aircraft were reluctantly mobilized by Bradley to welcome the arrival of reinforcements.  It's just that now it seems that Bradley can't receive reinforcements.

    Port Moresby, Bradley Command

"General Bradley, our reinforcements have withdrawn! They have withdrawn to the Solomon Islands. Maybe we won't get reinforcements within a week!"

Lake stood behind Bradley and said softly. He didn't know what kind of expression Bradley would have, but he knew that it was definitely not a good look.

    "Did you retreat?"

    Bradley muttered to himself.

"General Bradley, should we send electricity to reprimand them?"

Lake asked tentatively from behind him.  In fact, Lake was very dissatisfied with the reinforcements being withdrawn without a word.  The situation in Papua Guinea is at stake. Once the tens of thousands of Citigroup troops on the island are eaten by China, it can be said that Papua Guinea has been lost.

But under such circumstances, the fleet that came to support actually turned around and left.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
