After occupying the Guangzhou and Wuhan areas, the Japanese army alternately used its aggressive methods and proposed the support of good neighbors from Japan, Manchuria, and China in an attempt to induce the Nationalist Government to surrender.

However, it was rejected by the National Government authorities, and the Japanese government, which became angry, immediately issued a statement humiliating the National Government!

"Now, relying on His Majesty's imperial authority, the Imperial Army and Navy have conquered the three towns of Guangdong and Wuhan and secured the key areas of China. The National Government is only a local government. However, if this government persists in the policy of resisting Japan and tolerating the Communists until it is annihilated, the Empire will never  Withdraw your troops. What the empire desires is to build and ensure a new order of permanent stability in East Asia, and this is the ultimate goal of this campaign."

"The construction of this new order is based on the cooperation between Japan, Manchuria, and China, and the establishment of a chain of mutual assistance in all aspects of politics, economy, culture, etc., in the hope of establishing international justice in East Asia, achieving joint defense against communism, creating a new culture, and realizing  Economic integration. This is actually a method that contributes to the stability of East Asia and promotes world progress. What the empire hopes for China is to share the task of building a new order in East Asia. The empire hopes that the Chinese people can understand the true meaning of our country and cooperate with the empire.  If the Nationalist Government abandons its original guiding policies, changes its candidates, achieves new results, and participates in the construction of a new order, we will not refuse."

"The Empire firmly believes that all countries can correctly understand the Empire's intentions and adapt to the new situation in East Asia. I would like to express my deep gratitude to China for its long-standing friendship with all its allies. The construction of a new order in East Asia originates from the founding spirit of our country and is completed.  This construction is a glorious task entrusted to the modern Japanese people. The Empire will resolutely carry out necessary reforms in all aspects of the country in order to further expand the overall strength of the country, overcome all difficulties, and move forward to achieve this goal. The government hereby declares that for the Empire  Immovable policy and determination.¡±

This statement was just over 400 words long, but it exposed Japan¡¯s conspiracy to annex China. It was immediately boycotted and condemned by the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.

However, because this statement mentioned that "if the Nationalist Government abandons its previous guiding policies, changes candidates, achieves new results, and participates in the construction of a new order, we will not refuse", which has caused some unsteady-willed people within the Nationalist Government to  People are shaken, such as Wang Jingwei and others, and a farce is about to take place.

Militarily, after the Wuhan battle, the Japanese army quickly adjusted its troops.

After study and decision by the Central China Front Army, the reinforcements transferred from the 17th Division of Suzhou, the 15th Division of Nanjing, and the 116th Division of Anqing were ordered to return.

Then some of the troops were transferred to Guangdong and returned to the 21st Army of Lieutenant General Qianlang Guzhuang. Then the 10th Division and the 27th Division were transferred back to North China under the orders of their base camp, and were stationed in Shijiazhuang and Tianjin in turn.

After that, the base camp made a decision to dismantle the 2nd Army headquarters and return it to the country. The three divisions originally commanded by the 2nd Army were incorporated into Okamura Neiji's 11th Army.

At this time, Okamura Neiji¡¯s 11th Army had 7 divisions, becoming the largest military-level combat unit in China.

Then Okamura Neiji immediately made defense adjustments to the troops in the Wuhan area. Fujita Susumu's 3rd Division headquarters was set up in Yingshan, Hubei. Its security areas were Xinyang, Guangshui, and Yingshan, and one part was located in the northwest of Yingshan.  The Xihe River.

The headquarters of Tanaka Shizuichi's 13th Division is located in Huangpi, Hubei Province. Its security areas are Huangpi, Hekou Town, Songbu, and Xinzhou, and one unit is located in Xuanhuadian and Macheng.

The headquarters of Fujie Keisuke's 16th Division is located in Xiaogan, Hubei Province. Its guard areas are Xiaogan, Yingcheng, and Yunmeng, and one unit is located in Zaoshi and Hanchuan.  Anlu and Huayuan are under the charge of the 4th Brigade of the Kojima Jizo Cavalry.

The headquarters of Inaba Shiro's 6th Division is located at Wuhan University in Wuchang. Its security area is the railway and highway north of Tingsi Bridge, the areas along Xianning, Nanlin Bridge, Chongyang Highway, and the Wuchang area.

The headquarters of the 9th Division is located in Puqi, Hubei Province. Its security area is the Guangdong-Hankou Railway southwest of Tingsi Bridge, the area on the other side of the Yangtze River near Jiayu, and Yueyang.

The Hankou Garrison is commanded by Major General Shigenori Numata, commander of the 26th Brigade of the 13th Division, and personnel are drawn from each division to form a total of 4 infantry brigades.

In order to maintain water transportation from Nanjing to Wuhan, the Central China Dispatch Army used the 116th Division of Qingshui Xizhong to guard the Yangtze River coast from Wuhu through Anqing to the mouth of Poyang Lake.

The security of the Yangtze River waterway from Hukou through Jiujiang, Huangshi, Echeng, Wuhan, Jiayu, Xindi to Yueyang will be deployed by the 11th Army in Okacun.

But these have nothing to do with the vast majority of the national army, including Li Guoyao, because now the vast majority of the national army are facing the same problem - reorganization and rest!

The Chinese army dispatched more than 100 divisions and brigades with a total of one million soldiers in the Wuhan Battle, although no one was killed during the battle.?The Chinese infantry division was completely annihilated, but the casualties of each unit were still difficult to estimate.

Although there are currently no exact casualty statistics, based on the casualty figures reported by various units, the Military Commission estimates that the total casualties of the Warring States Army should not be less than 400,000.

The one-million-strong army suffered 400,000 casualties, which means that the vast majority of the troops have suffered more than half of their casualties, and even units such as the 71st Army, the 61st Army, and the 64th Army are even less alive.

Therefore, after the troops broke out of the encirclement, the Nationalist Government immediately began to reorganize and replenish the troops, and also adjusted the designations of a large part of the troops.

More importantly, the Nationalist Government evaluates the performance of each unit during the battle, rewarding meritorious service and punishing delinquency.

¡°Although on the surface the Military Commission spoke high-sounding and claimed to be fair and just, everyone soon knew that this was nothing more than empty words.

Because after the Military Commission¡¯s list of adjustment numbers came out, everyone discovered that many non-direct units had disappeared. The so-called disappearance meant that the unit numbers were revoked, soldiers were incorporated into other units, and officers were either retained or assigned to other units.  Qingshui Yamen in the rear was left on the bench, and some officers with poor performance were directly ordered to retire.

Although the designations of several divisions of the direct troops were revoked, the vast majority of the troops were retained, and after annexing a large number of miscellaneous troops, the strength of each unit was quickly restored.

In late January, the Military Commission of the Nationalist Government issued a notice to severely punish the generals who failed to fight well in this battle. 41 generals of major general, brigade commander and above were dismissed from their posts, investigated, and executed by firing squad.

And when the lists of those dismissed, investigated and executed were announced, all the generals on the front line were once again filled with grief and anger.

"Because among these officers, direct descendants of Jiang Jun accounted for only a small part, and Hu Zongnan, who was extremely angry among the people, was not among them.

The highest-ranking one was Li Yunheng, commander of the 16th Army stationed at Madang Fortress. He was dismissed because of the loss of Madang Fortress, and Xue Weiying, commander of his 167th Division, was shot.  Apart from this, no one else from the direct line of the Central Army was punished, and the rest were all miscellaneous army generals.

What made the generals even more dissatisfied was that Hu Zongnan, who lost Luoshan, Xinyang and other strategic places, was not held accountable. Instead, Major General Zeng Yuan, the commander of the 124th Division who performed extremely bravely in this battle, was regarded as the first responsibility for the defeat.  Man, this incident quickly aroused serious dissatisfaction among many officers and soldiers behind the front lines.

Everyone knows that the culprit for the loss of Xinyang was Hu Zongnan, and the 124th Division's Battle of Luoshan was meritorious. The reason why Luoshan was lost was entirely because in the later stages of the war, Hu Zongnan not only withdrew the main troops from Luoshan, but even supported the battle.  The artillery also withdrew to Xinyang.

Under this situation, the 124th Division fought hard with the Japanese army at the Luoshan position for several days without any reinforcements.  On the contrary, the withdrawal of the main force of the legion caused the Japanese army to detour to the west of Luoshan.  If it does not retreat in time, the 124th Division may become the only infantry division to be completely wiped out in the battle.

¡°But when it came to pursuing responsibility after the war, Commander Zeng Yuan never dreamed that when the blame for the fall of Xinyang and Luoshan was traced, the finger of blame would be pointed at him.

"If it weren't for the old boss Sun Zhen to speak up and repeatedly vouch for Zeng Yuan, please give him a chance to make meritorious service."  Otherwise, Zeng Yuan would not be able to get away just by remembering his merits.

In addition, the Military Commission¡¯s handling of the 61st Army is also shocking. Instead of expanding the size of such a distinguished unit, the Military Commission withdrew the designation of the 61st Army, and the units it belonged to were also disabled.  The 67th Army merged.

Li Guoyao himself was held accountable for failing to arrive at Mount Fujin in time, and the lieutenant general was appointed as deputy army commander, which was unexpected.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
