While the North China Front Army was busy mobilizing troops and preparing for a big fight, the Japanese troops in Central China were also ready to move, trying to launch an attack on the Changsha area through Yueyang and other places.

In this battle, the Japanese army is still dominated by the 11th Army of the Central China Front. The first purpose is to counterattack the summer offensive in the 9th Theater; the second is to build momentum and create conditions for the Wang Puppet regime that is about to be established.

Its main attack direction is from Yueyang and Tongcheng across the Xinqiang River and Miluo River. With the cooperation of naval ships and marines on the east bank of Dongting Lake, they attack from the east of the Xiangjiang River to the area north of Changsha.

In addition, the other Japanese army in Nanchang went west via Gao'an and Fengxin to attack Xiushui and Wuning counties to cope with the main force's frontal operations.

In early September, the Japanese 11th Army Headquarters issued a combat assembly order to the front-line divisions. According to the original text issued by the 11th Army Headquarters to all units, it was expressed as follows: "Taking advantage of the decline of the Chinese army, defeat the 9th Theater in Guangdong and Han.  Directly connect the main force of the Central Army along the road and destroy their will to continue the war of resistance, so as to ensure the stability of the army's operating area. The Corps Headquarters uses the main force of about two divisions to conduct secret combat preparations, roughly in late September in Guangdong and Han  Launch an attack on the northern section of the road and annihilate the Chinese troops on both sides of the Mi River; another division will attack from Nanchang to the Gao'an area before the main attack. After annihilating the Chinese defenders, they will continue to attack the Xiushui coast and capture the people there.  The defenders will fight with the main force of the support army.¡±

"This operation mainly starts with a surprise attack, and ends in the shortest time, and then returns to restore the current situation. The main force in northern Hunan is the 6th Division, and one unit each of the 33rd, 3rd, and 13th Divisions (two  to 3 brigades) the main force of the independent machine gun brigade, tank troops, mountain artillery, mortars, and independent engineering units directly under the army. In terms of Gao'an and Xiushui: the main force of the 106th Division, the first part of the 101st Division,  One unit each for field heavy artillery, mortars, independent engineers, independent light tanks, and bridge-building and river-crossing units directly under the army."

"The time limit for each unit to complete its concentration is mid-September. In order to adapt to the terrain and traffic conditions of the combat area, each combat unit should mainly use light firearms and pack horses. In order to confuse the other party, when the troops are concentrated, in terms of strategy, they should publicize this event  The battle is directed at Yichang and Fujian."

Before the Japanese attack, although they paid attention to secrecy and created illusions in an attempt to confuse the troops in the 5th and 9th theaters, Bai Chongxi's Guilin camp and Xue Yue's 9th theater commander's headquarters both had information that the enemy would invade Changsha.

"However, Bai and Xue have different opinions on how to counterattack the enemy.

Bai Chongxi believes that the Japanese troops in the Wuhan area are stationed in the south and north of the Yangtze River and are in confrontation with my country's heavy troops there. If a larger-scale attack is organized, at most half of the troops can be mobilized and the fighting will not last too long.

In order to basically annihilate the enemy forces in this attack, he advocated that our army should fight and retreat to the Hengyang area, so that the Japanese army's small strength could penetrate into and disperse into an area about 200 kilometers inland, and then start a frontal counterattack.

At the same time, the troops from Jiuling Mountain and Mufu Mountain advanced westward; the troops west of the Xiangjiang River advanced eastward; they blocked the enemy's retreat routes on land and water and carried out blockade attacks.

The 5th war zone outside Wuhan and the 3rd war zone east of Fuhe River in Nanchang launched diversionary operations, so that enemy troops that penetrated deep into the interior would have difficulty escaping the fate of being annihilated.

Xue Yue advocated a counterattack in the area north of Changsha. The reasons are: first, there are sufficient troops; second, if the enemy is allowed to enter Changsha and the south, the impact at home and abroad will be too great; third, if the enemy retreats to Hengyang, the enemy  The troops of Ando Rikichi's 21st Army in the Guangzhou area may respond northward along the Yue-Han Road, complicating the situation.

Finally, Chen Cheng, who served as political minister in Chongqing and was still the commander-in-chief of the 9th Theater, agreed with Xue Yue's opinion and launched a counterattack against the enemy in the area north of Changsha.

Soon, the Japanese troops, under the command of the 11th Army Headquarters, began to act according to the predetermined plan.

When the 3rd Division arrived at Hankou, Mikio Uemura's 5th Brigade took a boat up the Yangtze River, and assembled near Linxiang and Chenglingji on September 6 to make preparations for landing in the camp and attacking the rear of the defenders in a roundabout way.  The first one was based on the strategic plan of the 11th Army, and the navy followed the Yangtze River from Chenglingji to Jianli to conduct a feint attack in an attempt to confuse the 9th and 5th theaters.

By September 18, most of the troops of Shiro Inaba's 6th Division had assembled in the Xinkaitang area, about 15 kilometers southeast of Yueyang, in preparation for the attack of forcibly crossing the Xinqiang River, but the 45th Infantry Regiment of his 36th Brigade  The regiment and the 2nd Independent Mountain Artillery Regiment were heading towards the assembly area through the mountainous area of ??Dajie, about 25 kilometers northwest of Tongcheng, on September 14. They were strongly blocked by the 82nd Division sent by the 9th Theater to prevent the assembly, and a relatively serious incident occurred.  Big casualties.

On September 17, the 26th Brigade of Narako of the 13th Division was preparing for a surprise attack to break through the defenders' positions in the Taolin area south of Linxiang County.

Amakasu Jutaro's 33rd Division had assembled in Tongcheng on September 19, preparing to surprise the defending positions of Maishi and Nanlouling in the southeast.

Ryotaro Nakai¡¯s 106th Division had assembled in the Fengxin and Qianzhou areas west of Nanchang on September 13, preparing to launch a surprise attack.

As its troops gathered on the battlefield, the enemy's 11th Army Command Post by Okamura Neiji was also opened in Xianning on September 13, and successively issued a number of combat orders: "The 106th Division, in order to confuse and contain the opponent, conceal the army's  The main direction of attack is to start the offensive after September 15th, use surprise attacks to break through the left wing of the defender's position from the west of Fengxin, penetrate into the flank and rear of its frontal defense, and annihilate the defender in the northwest area of ??Gao'an."

"The fifth brigade is scheduled to land at the camp north of Xiangyin at dawn on September 23."

"The main force of the legion launched an attack at dawn on September 23 and quickly advanced to the Pingjiang area in the upper reaches of Mi River to annihilate the 15th Group Army in the area. The 6th Division broke through the defenders' positions in the area west of Xinqiang Town and advanced toward Mi River.  Breaking through the highlands in the south. The 26th Brigade broke through the defenders' positions on the south bank of the Shagang River and west of Yanglin Street, and quickly advanced to the south of Wukou and along the Mi River. The 33rd Division launched a surprise attack from the southeast of Tongcheng  Break through the defenders' positions near Maishi and wedge in the direction of Zhajin to cut off the defenders' main line of communication."

With the orders of the 11th Army Headquarters, the Japanese troops advanced rapidly. China and Japan exchanged fire outside Changsha, and the first Changsha Battle officially began.

While the two sides were fighting madly outside Changsha, the North China Front Army finally received the long-lost reinforcements!

On September 19, the first batch of 12,000 supplementary troops landed in Tanggu, Tianjin. At the same time, they landed a large number of heavy weapons. There were 200 Type 95 tanks alone, 200 Type 41 mountain guns, and 100 field guns.  There are even thirty large-caliber field heavy artillery.

There are two reasons why so many heavy weapons were transported. The first is that the North China Front Army suffered extremely serious losses of heavy weapons in the previous operations, which has seriously affected the combat effectiveness of the army.

The second is that these heavy equipment cannot be produced in the Chinese-occupied areas. Although the Japanese army has built many arsenals in China, most of their equipment is transferred from the captured Taiyuan Arsenal and Shenyang Arsenal. They can only produce some light weapons.  Even large-caliber artillery shells cannot be produced, not to mention tanks and artillery, all of which need to be mobilized from Japan.

At the same time, Tada Shun also received a telegram from the base camp, saying that the second batch of reinforcements, nearly 30,000 people, had boarded the ship and was expected to arrive in North China a week later.

After receiving the telegram from the base camp, Tada Shun was overjoyed. As long as reinforcements arrived, his plan could be officially launched.

Then, Tada Shun immediately ordered the staff to count the vacancies in each unit, and then ordered the troops to add the 12 new infantry brigades to the First Army, the 12th Army, and the garrison in a ratio of 4:4:2:2.  Mongolian army and front army headquarters.

As a large number of reinforcements and heavy weapons were added to the troops, the Japanese troops, which were originally low in morale, rose up one after another as if they had been given a shot of blood!

In addition, during this period, the puppet troops in various places expanded their troops on a large scale with the support of the Japanese, and their numbers increased rapidly. Later, the Japanese and puppet troops cooperated with each other, went deep into villages to collect taxes and grain, and attacked the Eighth Route Army guerrillas in various places. In North China,  There was a bloody storm.

However, Jun Tada was not satisfied. He was waiting for an opportunity. When all the reinforcements were in place, he wanted to have a good fight with the Eighth Route Army and the notorious Li Guoyao.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
