Beginning in 1931, in less than a year, no fewer than 300,000 volunteers emerged throughout Northeast China.

Peasants raised their machetes, soldiers and police raised their guns, green forest troops, or "beards" as Northeasterners called them, directed their force against the Japanese and puppets, and intellectuals also joined the army.

There are volunteer activities in 93 of the 154 counties in Northeast China.

In the early days, the Northeastern Volunteer Army carried different flags, such as the red flag, the green flag, the blue sky and white sun flag, and another flag that used the "anti-Japanese" idea, inverting the Japanese flag with a red circle on a white background and drawing a red flag on the red background.  The white circles are really colorful, each showing their magical powers.

From the west bank of the Liao River to the banks of the Songhua River, from Changbai Mountain to the Xing'an Mountains, the anti-Japanese volunteers fought bloody battles everywhere.

In the Liaodong Triangle, the Northeastern People's Anti-Japanese National Salvation Self-Defense Force led by Deng Tiemei has a team of 30,000 people.

Jilin has the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Army organized by Wang Delin and Wu Yicheng. They attacked Dunhua City three times, killing and wounding more than 400 Japanese soldiers.  Later, they attacked Emu and Jiaohe and seized a large number of guns.  The Japanese army sent tens of thousands of troops to pursue them. The National Salvation Army lured the enemy deep into the area, besieged them on all sides, and set up pocket formations, annihilating more than 3,000 Japanese troops.

Among these people, the most worthy of unity is the Bearded Army in the Northeast.

The Northeast is a land with high mountains and dense forests, a vast territory and sparsely populated areas. It has been famous throughout the country for banditry for many years.  There are "beards" everywhere, not only because the place is poor, but also the endless mountains, large swamps and meadows are good places for "beards" to breed.

"Beard" has become such a big problem that many people abandon their homes and careers and seek refuge in the mountains. It has become a natural choice for many people when they have no way to survive.

But the arrival of the Japanese was far worse than any previous famine.

" Being a slave to the country's subjugation and being bullied by the little devils, the rough and bold Northeastern man cannot swallow this breath.

Mazhanshanjiang Bridge repeatedly defeated the enemy and became famous in one battle. Not only did the Northeastern elders feel excited, but it also attracted the old Northeastern Army, local militia, peasant self-defense forces, old police and even the "bearded men" in the mountains and forests to join forces.  Attack the Japanese from all sides.

Some puppet troops who were once shocked by the Japanese army's prestige and surrendered to Japan began to fight in large numbers again, aiming their guns at the Japanese again.  Under such circumstances, the Kwantung Army, which had only more than 20,000 troops at the time, fell into a dilemma of being attacked from all sides and overwhelmed.

In 1932, first, Tang Juwu, the commander of the 3rd regiment of the Yuzhishan Brigade, the former Northeastern Army's eastern garrison, led his entire regiment in an uprising in Huancheng, Liaoning. Then the Northeastern Tonghua Sword Brigade fought a fierce battle with the Japanese army at Fangzhengtaizi, and then Mazhanshan and  The Japanese army launched a fierce battle on the outskirts of Hulan City. The brave and resourceful Ma Zhanshan defeated the Japanese army again and chased them for hundreds of miles in one breath. They did not collect their horses until Fujiadian on the north bank of the Songhua River and returned to the camp.

At the same time, Ding Chao and Li Du's Jilin Provincial Self-Defense Army, Su Bingwen's Northeastern People's National Salvation Army, Feng Zhanhai's 6th Army Corps led by the Support Association, Wang Delin's National Salvation Army, and the police commanded by Wang Xiansheng and Xiong Fei  The brigade vigorously developed its organization in the three provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang to expand its anti-Japanese strength.

Joining the anti-Japanese army seemed to have formed an irreversible trend in the white mountains and black waters at that time. Even the bandit leaders who were pulling poles (organizing gangs) or in prison before the "September 18th" incident also wanted to join the anti-Japanese army.  The anti-Japanese enthusiasm of the Northeastern elders was transformed, and they pulled the team down the mountain and joined the anti-Japanese volunteer army.

Among them, most of the people at the helm are long-time bandits inside and outside the Shengzhen Pass, such as Gong Changhai (Gong Fool), Yao Bingqian (Shuangshan), Li Zhongyi (Haiqing), Zhang Xiwu (Tian Zhaoying), Ma Mingchun (Gong Fool) from Jilin and Heilongjiang Provinces.  A Chicken), Liu Wankui (Liu Kuaiji), Xiang Qingshan, Zhang Haitian (Old Beifeng), Xiaobailong, etc. from Liaoning.  The bandits in the Northeast have never come down the mountain neatly and joined the same team like today. Even if the local authorities recruit Youlu to surrender many times, it is rare to see this situation.

This group of bandits still had their consciences intact, and they finally did their part like an upright Chinese when the country, nation, and their homeland were in trouble.

At that time, the development of the anti-Japanese volunteer force reached its peak. At that time, the anti-Japanese volunteer army of 300,000 people spread to every corner of Baishan and Heishui.

But the good times did not last long. Under the joint stranglehold of the Japanese and puppet troops, and because these troops themselves did not have unified leadership, the battle relied entirely on their loyalty. In the end, they were defeated by the Japanese troops one by one. Even the famous Mazhanshan Division had to withdraw to the Soviet Union.  within the territory.

And after more than ten years of rule, the Japanese army completely controlled the entire Northeast.

But even so, there are still a large number of volunteers who escape into the mountains and forests and continue to fight against Japan, but their momentum is not there.

Under such circumstances, it is most appropriate for the Northeastern Marching Army to act in the name of the Volunteer Army.

?First, you can quickly gain the recognition and support of the people in the Northeast. Even if your army is composed of bandit beards, as long as you are sincere in fighting the Japanese, the people will support you.

Secondly, the Japanese don¡¯t pay too much attention to it. There are volunteers everywhere in the Northeast. They are like bandits in the customs. They are all over the streets. As long as the trouble is not too fierce, there is no need to pay attention to it.

Even if it does attract the attention of the Japanese and puppet troops, it will usually be limited to a certain area, either a military-controlled area or a province, and will usually not be brought to the Kwantung Army headquarters and senior puppet Manchukuo officials.

If a group of volunteers are forced to ask for help from above, it can only mean one problem. It is not that the enemy is too powerful, but that their local officials are too incompetent.

Therefore, in order not to be punished by the superiors, the local security forces were also careful to suppress it. As a result, Li Guoyao's headquarters had been operating in the Northeast for almost half a year, and the Kwantung Army headquarters still did not understand the situation.

Despite this, the Kwantung Army was still aware of the problem, but in their opinion it was the resurgence of the Anti-Japanese Alliance and Volunteer Army in the Northeast, but they did not think too much about Li Guoyao's troops.

"After all, Li Guoyao's troops are very famous in the pass, but few people in the Northeast know about it, and they don't think that the troops have the courage and necessity to conquer the Northeast.

On October 29, 1943, Li Guoyao held a meeting of senior officers of the Northeast Advance Army in the Xianghai area near Baicheng.

In addition to Li Guoyao, the meeting was attended by Ma Desheng, Chen Jianzhong, Gu Mingtang, Zhang Shaolin, Hou Dazhuang, Xu Ziyu, Zhou Qiang, Lin Li, Wang Kuishan, Xu Dayou, Zhou Dafu, Hou Zhankui, Wan Yong, Zhang Hai, Wu Tiancheng, Lei Er  Hu, Zhang Xishun, Liu Zhiming, Wang Lijuan, Wu Yunqi Qige, Cheng Ernv and others.

At the meeting, Li Guoyao first announced the organization of the Northeastern Advance Army. It was different from the organization of the military divisions and brigades of the Ninth Army. Due to the complex situation in the Northeast, Li Guoyao launched five columns below the headquarters, with brigades below the columns and squadrons below the brigades.  The team is similar to the one used by the army in Shandong, but it is much smaller in scale.

The commander of the advancing army is naturally Li Guoyao himself, the deputy commander is Chen Jianzhong, and the chief of staff is Ma Desheng.

In addition, the headquarters also has a logistics department, an intelligence department, a telecommunications department and a rear general hospital. The logistics director is Gu Mingtang, the intelligence department is headed by Hou Dazhuang, the telecommunications department is headed by Liang Yong, and the rear general hospital is headed by Huang Shuya.  Serve.

The first column is headed by Zhang Shaolin, with deputy column captain Lin Li and chief of staff Wang Lijuan. It has seven brigades, each with 1,000 people, and its activities range from Ulanhot to Baicheng.

The second column is headed by Zhou Qiang, with deputy column leader Wang Kuishan and chief of staff Zhang Hai. The unit has 6 brigades under its command, and its activities range from Tongliao to Kailu.

The third column is headed by Zhou Dafu, with deputy column leader Lei Erhu and chief of staff Xu Dayou. It has seven brigades under its command, with active areas in Chifeng and Chengde.

The fourth column is headed by Wu Tiancheng, with deputy column captain Zhang Xishun and chief of staff Liu Zhiming. It has five brigades under its command, with active areas in Shuangliao and Siping.

The fifth column is headed by Wu Yunqi Qige, with deputy column captain Wan Yong and chief of staff Cheng Ernv. It has six brigades under its command, and its activities range from Songyuan, Da'an and Zhaoyuan.

In addition, each column has also established an artillery squadron, a machine gun squadron, an engineer squadron, and a guard squadron, and a directly administered technical branch has been established at the headquarters of the advancing army.

Following Li Guoyao's order, the grass-roots team that advanced to the army was finally set up, and then it was their turn to be the protagonists!
