Following the order from the Kwantung Army headquarters, the main force of the Japanese 117th Division stationed in Chengde immediately assembled. In addition to the more than 5,000 people in the lead who had already rushed to Chaoyang, the division commander Lieutenant General Suzuki Keihisa immediately assembled another eight  More than a thousand main forces, accompanied by some technical units, headed north, with the goal still being Chaoyang.

However, as the main force of the Suzuki Division moved northward, at this time, there were only less than one brigade of Japanese troops stationed in more than a dozen counties in southern Jehol, and the rest were all puppet troops.

Even so, the total number of defenders was less than 15,000.

In comparison, it not only has Chengde, the provincial capital of Rehe, but also the Kailuan Coal Mine, the largest coal mine in Rehe. In addition, it also controls important channels leading to the pass, so the defense task is very heavy.

However, both Lieutenant General Suzuki Keihisa and the top brass at the Kwantung Army Headquarters felt that the national army had already opened four battlefields in Manchuria at this time, and there should be no spare capacity to open a fifth battlefield.

Not only because they believed that Li Guoyao¡¯s troops could not have that many troops, but more importantly, according to the investigation by the Kwantung Army Headquarters¡¯ secret service, the number of national troops in Chifeng, Tongliao and Wangye Temple decreased significantly during this period.

The situation in Wangye Temple and Baicheng is not very obvious yet. The number of troops stationed in this area has not changed much, but the number of troops in Tongliao and Chifeng is much smaller. Big cities are fine, there are still at least a few hundred garrisons, and the problem of maintaining public order is not  big.

But in places such as Kailu, Wengniute, and Keshiketeng, the garrison in each place usually only has a small number of local troops, or there are no people at all.

This shows that Li Guoyao's military strength has reached its limit. Otherwise, these important places would not have only such a small amount of troops.

Because of this, the Kwantung Army Headquarters decided to transfer the troops on the southern line of Jehol to fight in the South Manchuria area.

However, what Yamada Otsuzo and others didn't know was that Li Guoyao had been digging holes for them from the beginning. Whether it was the troops in the hinterland of the Puppet Manchukuo or the troops on the Qiqihar front line, they were just to contain the Japanese army. Even the troops on the front line in Chaoyang and Fuxin were no more than  It is a partial division, and the real killer move in this battle is in Rehe.

Li Guoyao knew very well that although the strength of the Kwantung Army had been weakened a lot, the emaciated camels were bigger than horses. It was difficult to defeat them directly with three times the strength of the Jiujiu Army.

No matter how well the troops in other places fight, once the main force of the Japanese army goes south for reinforcements, it will be difficult for the troops to truly occupy a city or a place.

But Rehe is different. It is close to Tongliao Chifeng in the north and not far from Zhangjiakou in the south. Once the main force of the Japanese and puppet troops is transferred away, it will be easy to occupy it with the current strength of the national army.

Once Rehe is captured, the Jiujiu Army will control most of the territory north of the Great Wall. Whether it goes south to threaten the North China Front or continues to attack eastward and cuts off the safe passage between the Japanese troops inside and outside the pass, it is very threatening.

So Li Guoyao¡¯s real trump card in this battle is not in Jilin, nor in Qiqihar, nor in Fuxin and Chaoyang, but in Rehe and Chengde!

After learning that the Japanese troops on the front line of Rehe had rushed to Chaoyang, the headquarters of the third reorganized division located in the Meilin Valley of Karaqin immediately issued a combat order to capture Chengde.

Following Zhou Dafu¡¯s order, one reorganized division plus two columns, a total of 22 regiments of powerful troops, simultaneously left Weichang and Longhua and other places to encircle the troops in the direction of Chengde.

Rehe is located south of the three eastern provinces and north of the Great Wall. This place has been a battleground for military strategists since ancient times.

After the September 18th Incident, the Japanese army was eyeing this place. However, due to the frequent activities of the Volunteer Army in the Northeast, a wave of 300,000 Volunteer Army swept across the Northeast. The Kwantung Army, which was already stretched thin, had to focus most of its energy on encircling and suppressing the Volunteer Army. Therefore,  He did not have the energy to continue going south to invade Jehol.

But on New Year¡¯s Day in 1933, the Kwantung Army believed that the time was ripe for invasion and launched the Yuguan Incident, also known as the Shanhaiguan Incident.

The Chinese army resisted in Yuguan for three days. Yuguan fell, which kicked off the entire Rehe Incident.

After the Japanese army captured Yuguan, they formed a pincer attack on Rehe. After that, they created public opinion about the invasion of Rehe in order to capture Rehe and enter the pass.

The Japanese army claimed that the "capture of Rehe" was to "establish the foundation of the Manchukuo State" and "this is purely a domestic matter of Manchukuo."  The Japanese Ministry of War even shamelessly declared that "Rehe has been clearly declared to be part of the Manchu State" and "the Manchu authorities have also declared that its national border is the Great Wall."

Afterwards, the Japanese Foreign Minister also said, "From a historical perspective, there is no room for discussion that Manchuria and Mongolia are bounded by the Great Wall. In particular, the Rehe Province is part of the Manchu State. The longitude and latitude of the founding of the country should be clear."

Before invading Rehe, the Kwantung Army ordered the 8th Division of Lieutenant General Xi Yiyi stationed in Jinzhou to capture Shanhaiguan first.

After the Japanese army occupied Shanhaiguan, they prepared to attack Rehe.  The purpose of attacking Jehol was to defeat China's main force in the area and occupy the area east of the Great Wall.

At the same time, it will block traffic inside and outside China's customs and cut off the connection between the Northeast Anti-Japanese Forces and the interior of the customs, which will facilitate their future "security operations" in the Northeast and open up a strategic base for attacking North China, Inner Mongolia, and coveted Outer Mongolia.

This battle was the largest one by the Kwantung Army after the "September 18th Incident". It used two divisions, three brigades and other supporting troops. The elite Japanese troops alone numbered about 80,000 people.

In addition, there are about 12,000 troops under the command of the puppet army Zhang Haipeng, about 7,500 troops from the temporary 2nd Army under the puppet army Cheng Guorui, about 10,000 troops from Liu Guitang's National Protective Guerrilla Army, about 2,500 troops from Li Shoushan's Independent 1st Brigade, and Ding Ding.  The strong National Salvation Volunteer Army, Quan Bihui (Kawashima Yoshiko)'s Dingguo Army, etc.

During the battle, these puppet troops gradually deepened their conflicts with the Japanese army due to excessive robbery and extortion. As a result, during the battle, the Japanese army disarmed and disbanded some of the puppet troops.

At that time, the Chinese troops in western Liaoning, Rehe, and Inner Mongolia, according to the orders of the Peking Army Branch, took Chaoyang, Jianping (Ye Baishou), Lingyuan, and Pingquan as the operational dividing lines.

To the south of the line is the operational area of ??the 1st Army Corps, with Zhang Xueliang concurrently serving as commander-in-chief; to the north of the line, the operational area of ??the 2nd Army Corps, with Zhang Zuoxiang as commander-in-chief and Tang Yulin as deputy commander-in-chief.

In preparation for combat, the Japanese army attaches great importance to both ground and air forces.

They knew that this battle was very different from previous battles in the Northeast. First, they faced China's regular troops with better equipment and higher quality. Second, most of the Chinese troops retreating from the Northeast were concentrated in areas inside and outside the Great Wall.  , relatively adequate defense preparations have been made; third, heavy troops are stationed in the Ping and Jin areas and the Jidong area within the pass, and can support them at any time.

However, the Kwantung Army¡¯s command organization believes that victory in this battle is quite certain.

This is because China's civil war in Jiangxi is at another climax at this time, and the National Government's regular troops will not be transferred to North China in large numbers; the Jin Army, Northwest Army, and part of the Northeast Army in North China also oppose the movement of Kuomintang troops to North China and hope that  Each of them protected their territory to prevent themselves from being annexed and losing their support; Tang Yulin, the chief of Rehe Province, even supported his own troops and refused to allow other troops to enter, as evidenced by his secret contact with the Japanese Kwantung Army.

Section 2 (Intelligence) and Section 4 (Government Affairs) of the Kwantung Army Headquarters have established a considerable working foundation in Tang Yulin's troops through the upper levels of the puppet army. Once they attack Rehe, Tang's army will have a considerable number of  The troops, led by middle and senior officers, made way for the passage and surrendered to the Japanese army to attack Jehol together.

On February 23, 1933, the 8th Division located in Jinzhou first moved westward. At the same time, the 6th Division and the 4th Cavalry Brigade located in Tongliao and Zhangwu also began to attack.  The Huncheng 14th Brigade in Suizhong launched a westward attack on February 28, and the Huncheng 23rd Brigade on March 4th.

At the same time, the puppet army Zhang Haipeng's troops in Tongliao, the puppet army Yu Zhishan in Jinzhou, and the Jing'an Army in Suijia were also dispatched with the Japanese army.

Although this battle was large-scale, it actually lasted only 12 days, after which the Japanese army captured Rehe City.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
