After the Japanese troops in Chengde unexpectedly gave in and fled, the main force of Chow Tai Fook's troops finally entered Chengde City at three o'clock in the morning on September 3 and occupied the provincial capital.

At four o'clock in the morning that day, after completely controlling the situation in Chengde, Chow Tai Fook personally sent a good news to Li Guoyao who was far away in Wuchang.

After receiving the good news, Li Guoyao was a little excited. After preparing for so long, he finally won it. The efforts of hundreds of thousands of troops were not in vain.

Chengde is a city that perhaps not many Chinese people know about right now. As a small city in the northeast of Hebei Province, Chengde can be said to be very low-key.

Many people may know this city because they watched the TV series "Dog Stick". However, they don't know that this city was also a provincial capital a few decades ago and was a proper second-tier city.

The province where Chengde is located is called Rehe Province. In 1914, the Beiyang Government established the Rehe Special Zone. In September 1928, the National Government ordered it to be restructured into a province.  The jurisdiction of the province is approximately equivalent to the entire territory of Chifeng City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, most of Tongliao City, the area north of Yixian County and Jinzhou City in Liaoning Province, the west of Zhangwu County, and most of Chengde City in Hebei Province. The province covers an area of ??approximately 147,500 square meters.  square kilometers.

But such a province, which is equivalent to Shandong or Jiangsu, has set a record that makes all Chinese people feel ashamed. That is, the speed of its fall was only 12 days. Even when the Japanese army captured the provincial capital Chengde, they only dispatched  The 128 cavalrymen did not waste a single shot during the entire journey. What a shame!

After the September 18th Incident, although the three northeastern provinces fell, Rehe Province was still in the hands of the Northeast Army.

The importance of Rehe at that time is self-evident. The Nationalist Government used it as a base to recover the three eastern provinces when advancing, and to defend Pingjin and Tianjin when retreating.

At the same time, most of the anti-Japanese forces in the three eastern provinces at that time were based in Rehe to replenish food and ammunition.

The Japanese army also realized the importance of Rehe.  When Japan established the Puppet Manchukuo, it stated in the Declaration of Founding that all the four northeastern provinces north of the Great Wall and outside the Pass were the legal territory of Manchukuo. Rehe was part of Manchuria.

Therefore, Japan actively invaded Rehe in accordance with the "Japan-Manchuria Protocol".

Because public opinion in China was generally unwilling to recognize Manchukuo, on February 11, 1933, Song Ziwen, the executive director of the National Government, went to Peiping and issued a "defend" power transfer to Rehe together with 27 generals including Zhang Xueliang and Song Zheyuan.

So who was guarding Rehe at that time?  It was the warlord Tang Yulin.

Tang Yulin, courtesy name Gechen, nicknamed Tang Erhu, was born in Fuxin, Liaoning Province today.  When he was young, he was a bandit with Zhang Zuolin. When he was surrounded by Qing soldiers, he saved Zhang Zuolin's life, so the two became Jinlan.  As Zhang Zuolin's power gradually expanded, Tang Yulin followed the rising tide.

Because of Tang Yulin's great efforts in putting down Guo Songling's rebellion, Zhang Zuolin made him the capital of Rehe.

After Marshal Zhang changed the banner of Northeast China, he appointed Tang Yulin as a member of the Northeast Administrative Committee, Chairman of Rehe Province and Commander of the 36th Army Division.  From 1926 to 1933, the seven years before the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War in Rehe, Tang Yulin firmly controlled Rehe.

Although Tang Yulin is senior, his ability to manage Rehe is not that good!

Under his governance, Rehe was taxed and expropriated, and the people were in dire straits.

For example, when Tang Yulin¡¯s mother celebrates her birthday, the Shanluanping County government agencies and committee members will all share 4,810 yuan equally, and the Rehe Provincial Department of Finance will also distribute the 390 yuan to each bureau.  This is true even for government officials, let alone ordinary people.

Not only the common people don¡¯t believe that such people can defend Rehe, but Marshal Zhang himself doesn¡¯t believe it either.

But knowing that this man could not defend Rehe, Marshal Zhang did not replace Tang Yulin. The reason was that Tang Yulin was an "old man" after all and Zhang Zuolin's brother. He had deep connections in the Northeast Army and could not be easily offended.

Second, Tang Yulin has been entangled with the Japanese, swinging back and forth. If he is forced into the arms of the Japanese, the gains will outweigh the losses.

Due to lack of preparation, the Chinese army had no chance of winning in the Jehol War of Resistance from the very beginning. Facing the three-pronged attack by the Japanese and puppet troops, the Chinese army was not only ill-prepared, but also slow to respond.  All ministries responded hastily and were extremely passive.

Although the Chinese Army Dong Futing's 107th Brigade and the Volunteer Army Geng Jizhou's 107th Brigade guarding Nanling on the Reliao border put up fierce resistance, they were unable to block the enemy's advance.  Later, due to the fierce enemy attack, the Chinese defenders retreated without support, and Nanling and Koubeiyingzi fell one after another.

On the whole, the performance of the Chinese army can only be said to be very bad. From the beginning of the attack to the fall of Chengde, the Japanese army lost thousands of miles in just over 10 days, creating a great shame in the history of Chinese wars.

?Especially when the Japanese army approached Chengde, Tang Yulin was boasting and talking nonsense about persisting in resistance, but he was already ready to escape. Then he fled with the gold and silver treasures and a large amount of smoke and dust that he had looted in Rehe over the years.  Chengde.

At about 11 o'clock in the morning on March 4, 1933, the Japanese army occupied Chengde without any blood, using only 128 cavalry.

After that, the situation took a turn for the worse, and the Japanese army quickly occupied the entire province of Jehol.

The "Rehe Incident" caused a great shock in the world at that time. It was called "the ten days that shocked the world" by the social media at that time. It was also the ten most humiliating days for the Chinese people after the September 18th Incident.

And this incident is a huge shame for any Northeast Army. It has always had an army of hundreds of thousands of soldiers, but under the enemy's attack, it did not even have the courage to fight an offensive and defensive battle. This is really shocking.  People are ashamed.

But now it¡¯s better. The troops finally regained Chengde and occupied the central and northern parts of Rehe.

At that moment, Li Guoyao personally called Chow Tai Fook's troops and ordered them not to stop and continue to attack southward. While regaining the entire territory of Rehe, they would also compete with the Japanese army along the Great Wall.

After receiving Li Guoyao's military order, Zhou Dafu did not hesitate. Except for leaving two regiments in Chengde City, the rest of the main force immediately went south, divided into two groups, attacked Kuancheng and Xinglong, and advanced along the Great Wall.

Since the Japanese army had completely abandoned Rehe, the Chinese army moved south very quickly. It took less than three days to successfully occupy more than 30 towns in three counties in the south of Rehe.

On the morning of September 8, two regiments under You Keyong occupied Gubeikou Town on the Outer Great Wall, another occupied Xifengkou and Lengkou lines, and two regiments under Niu Dapeng occupied  After arriving at Jialingkou, the armored brigade and other main forces occupied Yiyuankou, while Zhou Dafu personally led the main force to occupy Jianchang Camp.

After tens of thousands of the main force of the Ninth Army arrived at the front line of the Great Wall, the situation in North China immediately changed.

By this time, the North China Front Army Headquarters in Peiping had also received relevant information and felt that the problem was serious, so it held a meeting of senior military officers on the 7th to study how to deal with issues such as the national army's attack on North China.

You must know that the Ninth Army is not only able to go directly south from Rehe to the Beiping area, but can even take a roundabout route to Jidong.

In addition, the Ninth Army has also occupied the front line of Zhangjiakou. Once its troops in Zhangjiakou also join the operation, the consequences will be really disastrous.

According to the news from the intelligence department, the strength of the national army on the front line of Jehol is about 60,000 to 70,000. It not only has a large number of cavalry and artillery, but also an armored force with more than 200 tanks. The overall combat capability is extremely strong.

In addition, the strength of the national army in the direction of Zhangjiakou is not less than 30,000, which adds up to 100,000. Once these troops move south at the same time, it will be difficult to stop them by the defenders around Peiping alone.

At present, Okamura Neiji and others decided after research to suspend the plan to counterattack Rehe northward. At the same time, they deployed additional troops to the Great Wall, totaling 2 or 2 divisions plus 3 mixed brigades. In addition, they strengthened the troops on the eastern Hebei front line.  troops.

In view of the unreliability of the puppet army, Okamura Neiji did not dare to call the puppet North China Security Army this time.

At the same time, the North China Front also ordered its chief of staff, Lieutenant General Oshiroto Sanji, to supervise the battle along the Great Wall and fully command the battle on the northern front.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
