In order to respond to the 22nd Division attacking from Guangxi Province to the Vietnamese border, on November 17, Marshal Juichi Terauchi, commander of the Japanese Southern Front, who had just moved his headquarters from Manila to Saigon due to the reversal of the war situation in the Philippines, immediately ordered him to station in Saigon.  Lieutenant General Dohashi Yongyi's 38th Army sent a strengthened infantry regiment of the 21st Division across the border to Guangxi to join the 22nd Division to open up the last section of the mainland communication line.

The 21st Division, stationed in Hanoi, was originally stationed in the Xuzhou area of ??China. After the Japanese army invaded Southeast Asia, the division was transferred to Vietnam and stationed north of Hanoi until it surrendered.

After Lieutenant General Naofuku Mikuni, commander of the 21st Division, received the order to cross the border and attack Guangxi, he immediately ordered Colonel Moto Ichinomiya, captain of the 83rd Infantry Regiment, to lead his regiment and the attached 3rd Battalion of the 82nd Regiment, Shan  The 3rd Battalion of the 51st Artillery Regiment, most of the 21st Engineer Regiment, the engineer team of the 70th Brigade, the 1st and 4th Squadrons of the 21st Baggage Regiment, a small team of the division communications team and  Health teams and other units crossed the national border to respond to the Japanese attack in Nanning.

After Ichinongji led this force to the border, he divided the troops into two groups and invaded Ningming, Guangxi.

Along the way, a brigade entered Aidian, Zhilang, Xingli, and Zhai'an in Guangxi from Zima in Luping District, about 20 kilometers southeast of Lang Son, and attacked Ningming City from the south.

The main force of the other group crossed the border from Tong Deng north of Lang Son to attack Ningming via Zhennan Pass and Pingxiang; another group was sent from Pingxiang to attack Longzhou, about 30 kilometers north to strengthen the north side.  alert.

This group of Japanese troops crossed the border and began to attack on November 28, and occupied Ningming and Longzhou.

There was no railway in this area at that time, so the 83rd Regiment and a brigade of the 84th Regiment of the 22nd Division coming from Nanning attacked from both ends along the road from Nanning to Ningming.

On the evening of December 5, the 83rd Regiment arrived at Sile, east of Ningming. On December 10, on the road in Suilu Town (Old City) in the south of Fusui County, it met the 84th Regiment of the 22nd Division coming from the east.  One brigade meets up.

So far, the Japanese army has finally achieved its intended goal after 7 months and 23 days of operations to open the mainland transportation line from Zhongmu and Zhengzhou in Henan Province on April 17, 1944, and to occupy the Chinese and American air force bases along the line.

In this way, railway transportation runs from Busan Station in southern North Korea to Liuzhou via Seoul, Pyongyang, Sinuiju, Andong, Shenyang, Shanhaiguan, Tianjin, Fengtai, Shijiazhuang, Zhenghe, Luohe, Xinyang, Wuhan, Yueyang, Changsha, Hengyang, and Guilin.  From Liuzhou via Nanning and Ningming to Zhennanguan on the Sino-Vietnamese border, they are connected by highways.

After entering Vietnam, the transportation line then passes through the country¡¯s railways to Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar, and from Thailand¡¯s Southwest Railway to Malaya and Singapore.

If you cross the Strait of Malacca, which is not very wide, you can go to Sumatra Island in Indonesia. From the south of the island, you can cross the Sunda Strait to Java Island. If you then cross the straits of the islands east of Java Island one by one, you can reach Australia.  The northern region, then Indonesia and northern New Guinea, was occupied by Juichi Terauchi's Southern Front.

With this mainland communication line, the Japanese army can not only reduce the losses of maritime transport ships and materials to Southeast Asia due to U.S. air and sea attacks, but more importantly, it forms a favorable link that directly connects the land areas of Northeast Asia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia.  Strategic situations, soldiers, equipment, and regional material exchanges can all be transported through this transportation line.

The most proud person now is Okamura Neiji, the commander-in-chief of the Japanese China Expeditionary Force. In fact, from 1937 to 1938, the Japanese have been preparing for their largest military offensive in China.

Since 1941, the campaign has been on the drawing board in some way.  Its main purpose is to open up a north-south corridor from North Korea to Hanoi to provide an alternative land route to the sea route, because the sea route has been effectively cleared of Japanese ships that can transport important raw materials to the island.

The second purpose is to destroy the U.S. Air Force base in southeastern China, because there are signs that the United States has reached some kind of agreement with the Chiang Kai-shek government. The U.S. military not only has more than a dozen air force bases in the north on mainland China, but also seems to have one in the south.  own air force base.

Moreover, the Japanese navy and air force, which had high hopes from the Japanese military and the emperor, had already been violently attacked by the US military in the Pacific region. Expansion and counterattack were no longer possible.

Allied bombers taking off from various bases in China have even attacked the Japanese mainland, and Allied aircraft appearing from time to time in South China have caused heavy damage to the transportation routes of Japan's absolute defense circle.

In particular, Chennault commanded the US Fourteenth Air Force based in South China, and worked closely with the Chinese Air Force to very effectively attack Japan's strategic transport fleet from the Nanyang to its homeland via the Taiwan Strait, causing damage to Japanese transport ships. The team loses more than one million tons every year.

Under this situation, Japan's armaments and industrial production are facing the crisis of complete shutdown due to lack of supply of raw materials and energy.

This is the most serious problem that threatens the safe operation of Japan¡¯s absolute defense circle.

Japan's entire production of combat weapons and munitions, as well as the supply of people's livelihood necessities, have begun to encounter serious difficulties, so Japan must find a way to solve this threat.

As we all know, Japan is a typical island country. Like the United Kingdom, the Japanese attach great importance to the security of their homeland. Therefore, the entire Japan, from the emperor to the common people, strives to support the country's development of the navy.

Moreover, Japan has also set up an absolute defense circle centered on Japan in the entire Pacific Rim region. Previously, the Japanese army was advancing vigorously, and China and the United States, which were fighting all the way from west to south, were unable to fight back. Therefore, this absolute defense circle has not been greatly affected.  Threat, even American warships rarely touch this area.

But now this absolute defense circle is under huge threat, especially after the puppet Manchukuo was restrained by Li Guoyao's army, the importance of this absolute defense circle becomes even more important.

Not only is the US military now capable of air strikes on the Japanese mainland, but fleets of Chinese military aircraft also appear in Japanese airspace from time to time. This period is definitely the darkest period for the Japanese emperor and ordinary people.

The air-raid sirens that sound from time to time make everyone nervous while working, worried that bombs falling from the sky will fall on their heads.

Especially after the Japanese media reported that two bombs exploded in the Imperial Palace, this panic spread.

Therefore, the base camp decided to carry out the battle to open up the mainland's communication lines on the Chinese battlefield. The main battlefields of this battle were in the China and Burma theaters. Japan planned to conduct a desperate counterattack on these two battlefields simultaneously. The core goal of the operation was to eliminate those in the Chinese theater.  strategic air bases and supply lines to ensure the security of Japan's absolute defense circle.

The offensive in the Myanmar theater is to cut off the Hump transportation channel; while the offensive in the China theater is to completely destroy the allied air bases in South China.

However, some people are happy and some are sad. Just when the China Expeditionary Forces Headquarters was excited about opening up the mainland communication line, the 14th Group Army in the Philippine theater of the Southeast Asian battlefield suffered an unprecedented blow.

Starting from the end of October, the Japanese 1st, 26th Division and 68th Brigade reinforced Leyte. By the beginning of December, the number of troops on the island reached more than 75,000, and there were 79 ships and hundreds of aircraft to cooperate with the operations.

At this time, the two armies of the US military have landed, with a total of more than 174,000 troops, and about 700 ships and 4,700 aircraft responsible for transportation and cover.

Although the Japanese army resisted tenaciously in depth and used special attack aircraft and special attack boats to attack US ships, the battle situation once reached a stalemate.

However, as the US 7th Division landed from Ormoc Bay on the west coast, and with the cooperation of the navy and air force, it finally broke through the Japanese defense line.

On December 25, 1944, most of the Japanese troops defending the island were wiped out, ending organized resistance.

After the US military occupied Leyte Island, Yamashita organized the 287,000 Japanese troops stationed in Luzon Island into three groups, stationed in the northern and central-southern mountainous areas respectively, in an attempt to contain and consume the US military with long-term defense.

In order to obtain an advance base for the attack on Luzon Island, the US military occupied Mindoro Island on December 15. Subsequently, the US 6th Army, with approximately 200,000 troops, supported by the navy and air force, landed from Lingayen Bay on the west coast of Luzon Island.  One way is to attack North Luzon, and the other way is to advance towards Manila.

In order to speed up the attack, while adding troops to Lingayen Bay, the U.S. Army landed part of the 8th Army in San Antonio, northwest of Subic Bay, and Nasugbu, south of Manila Bay. All units simultaneously advanced toward Manila.  , the Philippines campaign has entered a countdown.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
