Chapter 979 Forced to fight

    Located in the Arctic Ocean, Novaya Zemlya is an archipelago in northwest Russia, between the Barents Sea and the Kara Sea.  It is mainly composed of two major islands, north and south, plus some other small islands extending more than 1,000 kilometers from northeast to southwest.  Most of it is polar desert zone.  The climate is cold, foggy and windy.

    The IL-112 light military transport aircraft is flying in the sky, and only an outline can be seen in the scenery below.

    "Okay, we've arrived. We've descended to a height where we can parachute. Good luck to you, mercenaries." A Russian soldier pointed a gun at Lin Rui and Yelena, "Hey, it's time for you to leave."

    "Where did you train as a rookie? You were actually waving your ridiculous gun in the cabin. Do you know what the consequences would be if a misfire hit the plane or accidentally injured the pilot?" Lin Rui joked while talking on the plane.  The parachute's parachute opening rope was put on the steel cable.

    Paratrooper parachuting is different from stunt parachuting.  Each stunt skydiving athlete opens the parachute at different heights and at different times in order to achieve the purpose of creating various shapes. Therefore, the parachute opening time is controlled by the athletes themselves.  Parachuting by paratroopers is not about tricks. What matters is landing as quickly and as centrally as possible. In addition, the skydiving height is relatively low, so parachute opening ropes must be put on the steel cables.

    One end of the rope is hung on the steel cable in the cabin, and the other end is connected to the guide chute of the parachute carried by the airborne troops.  After the airborne troops jump out of the cabin, due to the gravity of the human body in the air, the traction rope and parachute hook automatically open the guide parachute.  The remaining rope for opening the parachute hook floats outside the cabin door and can be retrieved by the crew on board. This also saves the paratroopers from having to open the parachute themselves.

    "Ms. Palmina, although I respect Mr. Minister's decision, I really don't think these two mercenaries can change anything. There are at least a hundred unidentified enemy troops in the base on this island. I don't  I think the problem can be solved by relying on these two mercenaries." The officer said with concern.

    "I understand what you mean." Palmina nodded.  "You have to understand that whether these two people can solve the problem is not what we want. This is just a test. If they can succeed, maybe we can consider establishing a cooperative relationship with a military company."

    "I understand. What Mr. Minister wants is the Silver Wolf or the hidden military force he controls. I just want to use these two people to test their attitude." The officer frowned.

    "It's very close, but the person we really want is not even a silver wolf, but a dragon." Palmina said calmly.  "Long Zhengwu is a man of great courage and skill. Silver Wolf is indeed powerful, but he is just a martial artist. In many ways, Long is the real soul of Black Island Military Company."

    The Russian soldier was silent. He might have heard something about Michelle and Long Zhengwu.  In fact, both of these people eventually moved from Russia to the real mercenary battlefield.  Many things about them have been widely circulated among the mercenaries.  Their significance is equivalent to what Leonardo da Vinci is to painting, Maradona is to football, or Jordan is to basketball. They have become legends in a specific field.

    In the cold wind, Lin Rui¡¯s umbrella rolled when it landed.  While he quickly got rid of the parachute rope on his body, he looked for Yelena who landed around him.  It was so windy here that he missed his landing target a little bit when he landed.  Lin Rui arranged his weapons, quickly judged the direction, and then ran forward.

    Even though he was wearing heavy clothes, he still felt bitingly cold on this island in the Arctic Ocean.  He struggled to move his somewhat stiff fingers. When he skydived just now, he almost froze in the air.

    Soon he and Yelena met, and the two hugged tightly.  "Are you okay?" Lin Rui whispered.

    "I'm fine, but we have to get rid of the parachute. The enemies on the island should have noticed someone parachuting. Someone will be chasing us soon. Disposing of the parachute will prevent them from accurately judging our position in a short time." Yelena  whispered.

    "Just find a place to hide it." Lin Rui put away the parachute, hugged it into a ball, and found a place to hold it down with rocks to prevent it from being blown by the wind.  Another layer of snow was sprinkled on top, completely covering it up.

    "Let's go!" After doing all this,Rui whispered.  Yelena nodded.  They had heard faint sounds in the distance.  This base is located on a small island at the northernmost tip of Novaya Zemlya, with a large area of ??ice caps and snow.  This makes it very difficult for them to conceal their whereabouts, as their footprints will reveal their location.

    The bigger difficulty is the extreme cold. If they are exposed for a long time, they are likely to freeze to death here.  So they have to try to get into the base quickly.

    "Stop!" Lin Rui stretched out his hand.  "What?" Yelena whispered.

    "Listen, what is this sound?" Lin Rui tilted his head and whispered.

    Yelena listened carefully, and then whispered, "It seems to be a snowmobile!"

    ??Sled motorcycle, also known as snowmobile.  The engine is connected to a crawler unit that turns the crawler tracks.  Snowmobile tracks are basically made up of larger gears with evenly spaced teeth and corresponding holes in the track.  Each turn of the gears provides power to the tracks, propelling the snowmobile forward.  The faster the engine turns, the faster the gears spin and the faster the tracks move.

    Some snowmobiles are also equipped with turbocharging technology, which allows them to run effortlessly on the snow and can easily reach speeds of more than 60 kilometers per hour in the snow.

    "These people should be a search team, there won't be too many of them. And there's no way we can run like this. We can't outrun a snowmobile on two legs in the snow." Lin Rui took off his gun and turned around calmly.  Turning around, he said to Elena, "How are you? Are you ready?"

    Yelena nodded, she knew what Lin Rui meant.  Since you can't escape, don't do anything futile that is meaningless and a waste of energy.  Yelena quickly checked the firearm and whispered, "Leave it to me."

    Lin Rui shook his head, "You go over there and ambush, I'll stay here. I'll leave a lot of traces here for them to get out of the car and check. Then I'll look for the opportunity to launch an assault. You cover my actions with long-range shooting in that direction."  .¡±

    Yelena looked at the location and nodded, then quickly ran towards the far end.  Lin Rui turned around and hid in the snow.
