St. Keizer Island is still as beautiful as ever. Lin Rui and others returned to the island and reported the results of this mission to Long Zhengwu.

Long Zhengwu nodded, "Well done, the employer appreciates your efficiency. In addition, I noticed some other information about Zhao Jianfei."

"Yes." Lin Rui nodded, "He has joined the secret society. I don't know whether he found the secret society or the secret society found him. Anyway, he admitted this to me personally, and also talked to Yinlang  hatred."

"Yinlang called me yesterday." Long Zhengwu sighed.  "But fortunately, there are no other problems. Let's put this matter aside for now. I need you to do another mission. Fang Xin's mission this time is relatively easy. It is closer to the nature of an exercise."

    "Exercise?" Lin Rui frowned.

"In addition to providing military services, our company also provides evaluation and testing services. Originally, Zhao Jianfei was responsible for these. You may not be very clear about it," Long Zhengwu said.

"What aspect of assessment? Combat capability?" Lin Rui frowned, "I thought this required professional assessors, not action personnel like us."

"It's not what you think. Our mission this time is a security and defense assessment. It is mainly aimed at the classified units of the US military and discovers various problems in their security and defense. You know that organizations like them will have very strict  The security defense plan has a professional team responsible for security vigilance. But it must also undergo various tests and evaluations.

The security assessment we do is to simulate an invasion and conduct intrusive operations in our own way to assess their defense capabilities and response capabilities.  And provide a detailed report afterwards to point out the other party's security loopholes.  "Long Zhengwu explained.

"This looks like a job similar to that of a security consultant?" Lin Rui frowned.

"Yes, full strategy and action assessment consultant." Long Zhengwu nodded, "For two months, we will find out the security vulnerabilities of a secret base within two months and make changes to their security work.  Actual assessment. We and their assessors will assess all of your operations and those of the security forces in real time and tie that together to identify security issues."

"Understood, we were hired to invade. And they analyzed our successful intrusion and adjusted the existing defense plan to provide targeted defense. This is very easy." Lin Rui nodded.

"Don't talk too early." Long Zhengwu shook his head and said, "Because the place you want to invade this time is not an ordinary place."

"Isn't it a US military base? We haven't seen it before, navy, air force or army base?" Lin Rui smiled and said.

"You kid just don't know how high the sky is and how high the earth is. This time the target is the North American Aerospace Defense Command." Long Zhengwu looked at Lin Rui and said.

"NORAD? That wouldn't be in a certain room in the Pentagon, right? That would be too easy." Lin Rui smiled and shook his head.

Long Zhengwu smiled and turned around, "I know you are ignorant, so come here to read the information." He turned around and turned on the projector and said slowly, "This is a building, but it is completely different from what you said.  Hidden in a cave in Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado, the United States, is the largest and most modern building in the world. It is the Cheyenne Mountain Underground Monitoring Center of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and the United States Space Command." Long Zhengwu said as he switched screens.  .

"Is this an underground facility?" Lin Rui frowned.

"Yes, this center is located 500 meters deep under the rock. It is a multi-functional command and monitoring center that can continuously monitor more than 8,000 man-made objects orbiting the earth in space thousands of kilometers away, including approximately  500 working spacecraft and more than 7,000 space debris." Long Zhengwu said slowly.

On August 21 and October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union successfully launched the world's first intercontinental ballistic missile and the world's first artificial earth satellite.  The U.S. government and opposition parties were shocked.  President Eisenhower hastily ordered to accelerate the development of intercontinental missiles and aerospace technology. He also called for strengthening air defense and supplementing and adding new surveillance and warning capabilities for intercontinental ballistic missiles.

In order to effectively monitor and warn against possible attacks by ballistic missiles and long-range bombers from the Soviet Union, the United States and Canada, two North American countries, signed an agreement on May 12, 1958 to establish the joint air defense agency "North American Aerospace Defense Command."  This command needs to establish at least an early warning surveillance network and a data processing and monitoring center.

The early warning and surveillance network consists of early warning radars distributed in Alaska and Canada, which closely monitor Soviet ballistic missiles and aircraft that may come from the north.  The data processing and monitoring center is required to be located in a place with a hidden background, easy to defend, and difficult to destroy.  At the same time, we must consider the importance of key departments such as the monitoring center. It is far away from other strategic targets such as military bases and industrial centers, and special consideration must be given to being able to withstand the attack of Soviet nuclear weapons.

Based on these requirements, the U.S. Department of Defense organized experts to conduct inspections, research, and demonstrations, and finally decided to locate the new monitoring center inside the Cheyenne Mountain.  Cheyenne Mountain is located in the southwestern suburbs of Colorado Springs. It is a not too high mountain. Although it is 2,400-2,500 meters above sea level, its height relative to the local ground is only 600-700 meters.  The mountain is entirely composed of hard granite, forming a solid natural barrier.

In May 1961, the construction of the underground monitoring center began.  First, a main tunnel with a length of 0.5 kilometers and a width and height of about 15 meters was dug inward from the halfway point of Cheyenne Mountain.  Then, deep in the mountain at the end of the tunnel, a huge artificial cave with a bottom area of ??about 20,000 square meters and a height of about 25 meters was excavated. In addition, several auxiliary tunnels leading to the outside of the mountain were opened.  The excavation project alone took two years, and approximately 600,000 to 700,000 cubic meters of rock was excavated.

Beginning in June 1963, the U.S. military began building 15 buildings in the cave.  The structure of the building, including walls, floors, ceilings, corridors and stairs, are all made of 20-30 mm steel plates welded together.  The bottom of each building is supported by nearly a hundred large springs to withstand strong vibrations from natural earthquakes or nuclear attacks.

The top and sides of the building are surrounded by rocks hundreds of meters thick, forming an indestructible bunker.  The tunnel leading outside the cave is equipped with two gates made of reinforced concrete with a thickness of 2 meters.  After closing, the cave is isolated from the outside world. When it is attacked by a nuclear attack, it is enough to block the intrusion of shock waves, hot air and nuclear radiation, ensuring the safety of the building.  "

"I'll go, this is really a big deal." Lin Rui said with a wry smile.

Long Zhengwu smiled and said, "It is indeed a generous move, but during the Cold War, there were even crazier behaviors than this. Moreover, in the face of the increasingly mature precision strike weapons carrying high-yield nuclear warheads in the 21st century, Americans are also worried.  The surrounding underground buildings are not impregnable or foolproof. In particular, they are worried that if someone deliberately sneaks in, they have always been worried that this safest place in the world will have potential safety hazards."

"So you came to us for a defense assessment?" Lin Rui sighed and said, "I thought it was a good job, but it turned out to be a tough job."
