Chapter 3018 Spice Canyon

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

Living in the desert, for the Tuareg people, it is basically impossible to engage in agriculture, they can only herd.  But the desert is also not good pasture.  Therefore, the economic life of the Tuareg people is scarce, and it is impossible to survive solely relying on herding.  In this case, on the one hand, the Tuareg collected transit taxes from the caravans traveling to and from the Sahara Desert, which was actually protection fees. On the other hand, they simply armed and robbed the passing caravans or surrounding settlement countries.  Sometimes the Tuareg themselves participate in business, but their goods are usually stolen.

The Tuareg people's robbery of the Sahara Desert caravans follows the principle of "sustainable development". They neither carry out destructive robbery of the caravans nor rob them every day. In short, they make the caravans feel that although there may be  Robbery, but sometimes you can still avoid risks, as long as you make a handful, sometimes if you are robbed, you will rob some, and if the remaining goods are sold well, you will not lose money.  Therefore, even though the Tuaregs have been rampant on the Saharan trade routes for a long time, they have basically not cut off these trade routes.

Spice Canyon was a former trade route and got its name because of the transportation of spices.  The Tuareg people used to have frequent activities here, but later because of the war, the trade routes gradually closed up, fewer and fewer people came and went, and they were gradually forgotten.

¡°But as Wiesel said, this is a safe passage.  Lin Rui and others went all the way without encountering any obstacles.

"Although this place is hidden and quiet, there are indeed no enemies." Crazy Horse whispered, "We think we can take a short rest in front. I will send a team to observe the situation in front."

"Okay, tell the brothers to stop and rest for fifteen minutes, and find someone to investigate the situation ahead. According to the current progress, we should be able to catch up." Lin Rui nodded.

"Yes, even if those terrorists complete their assembly again, they will not be able to find us. We will be able to reach the government-controlled area in four hours at most." Crazy Horse nodded.

Fifteen minutes later, the troops sent out for reconnaissance reported that the front was safe.

Lin Rui breathed a sigh of relief, turned around and got into the car, and ordered the brothers to continue on their way.  The terrorists were still looking for them near the desert, but they didn't know they would go through this hidden spice canyon.

When the convoy drove to a checkpoint of government troops, Lin Rui knew that he had made the right bet this time.  They have crossed the most dangerous conflict zones.

The Zinil soldiers at the checkpoint came forward and saw the group of mercenaries and the joint force passes they held. They did not dare to ask more questions and were about to reach out and order other soldiers to move the roadblock.  But an officer who came out of the outpost stopped them with a drink.  "Who asked you to let them pass?"

"They have the pass documents of the Joint Anti-Terrorism Force." The soldier whispered.

"The affairs of the Joint Anti-Terrorism Force are not our business. We just have to guard this road. All the people in this car are armed, and there are several Tuareg people inside. Have you checked their identities?  Let them all get out of the car and be inspected," the officer shouted sternly.

"Yes, sir." The soldier had no choice but to turn to Lin Rui and others, "I'm sorry, you must get out of the car and undergo inspection."

"You see clearly, this is a vehicle of the joint forces. We have a special mission and we must not easily get out of the car and accept your inspection." Crazy Horse frowned.  "If you have any questions, you can call the Combined Forces Command immediately to confirm."

"Don't tell me about the Combined Forces Command. We are the Tillabelli security force, and we are ordered to check here to prevent terrorists from sneaking in." The officer frowned and said, "You have so many people, so many vehicles, and you are carrying heavy equipment."  Weapons. It is my duty to stop you for inspection."

Just when Lin Rui was surprised, Crazy Horse leaned into his ear and whispered, "This officer wants to blackmail us. He thought we must have contraband in the car, so he insisted on checking. He just wanted some benefits."  Usually those mercenaries often transport some contraband, so they are used to this kind of extortion."

Lin Rui nodded, took out a few bills and handed them to the officer.  "Are there any cigarettes?" the officer frowned.

"He thinks we are cigarette dealers?" Lin Rui frowned.

"The mercenaries here often do this kind of illegal business, taking advantage of their missions to make a little money by smuggling cigarettes." Crazy Horse nodded.

"No, there is nothing in our car." Lin Rui shook his head.

"Get out of the car." The officer raised his voice.

Lin Rui said coldly, "Try saying it again."

"I want you to get out of the car immediately. Everyone, don't move." The officer loudly ordered his soldiers, "Drive them all out."

"You might?Must be so serious.  Lin Rui looked at him and said.

"No, I'm serious. You must get out of the car and undergo inspection." The officer said firmly.

"You have one minute to change your mind." Lin Rui shook his head and said, "It's still too late to change your mind now."

The Nigerien officer shouted, "I won't change my mind."

As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Rui raised his hand and stuffed a grenade into the officer's mouth.  This grenade is a Type 82-1 grenade produced in China. It is easy to carry due to its very small size and a smooth oval appearance.  It was easily stuffed into the officer's mouth, and the fire ring was hung outside.  The officer was frightened by this sudden change.

"Get out of the way, or I will blow your head into a rotten watermelon." Lin Rui reached out and fiddled with the grenade tab at the corner of the officer's mouth.  "I just need to hook the tab and push you away. You don't have to worry about any contraband in my car. You don't have to worry about anything."

The officer was at a loss and speechless.  He knew what he was stuffing into his mouth. This kind of small grenade was very popular in Africa. Sometimes it was sold by roadside vendors. It was similar in shape to a small light bulb.  After the game is put into the mouth, it is difficult to spit it out immediately.  Although the grenade is small, it would be absolutely terrible if it exploded in the mouth.

The surrounding soldiers were in a panic, but no one dared to move.  Because the gunners on the roof of the two armored vehicles of Lin Rui and others were ready, and the two heavy machine guns had turned around, this made the Niger soldiers holding AK47 unable to muster the courage to resist.

"When we leave, you can help him take it out. But try to be careful." Lin Rui smiled slightly, "Now open the roadblock and let us pass."

The officer was shocked and angry, but there was nothing he could do.  After all, he was now under the control of others, so he could only hide aside and carefully try to take out the grenade in his mouth.  Lin Rui and others led the team away in the dust.
