"Filovirus, what is that? Who is that professor?" Lin Rui frowned.

"Filovirus is the collective name for organisms of the family Filoviridae. The family Filoviridae has only one genus, the genus Filovirus, which includes two viruses, namely Marburg disease and Ebola virus." Mr. K explained.

"Marburg virus is the cause of Marburg hemorrhagic fever. It was first discovered in Marburg, West Germany in 1967. Marburg virus is the first filovirus discovered. The largest epidemic since the end of the 20th century occurred in 1998  By 2000 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Marburg virus had infected 149 people and killed 123.

The Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It has four types, which can cause infected people to suffer from Ebola hemorrhagic fever. When it was epidemic in Sudan in 1976, the case fatality rate was 53.2%;  In Zaire, it¡¯s as high as 88.8%.

Therefore, the World Health Organization lists it as one of the viruses most harmful to humans, that is, a level 4 virus.  "

"Well, I don't know much about this. But I know the tragedy and panic caused by the Ebola virus when it was epidemic." Silver Wolf Michelle nodded.

Mr. K made a gesture, "Then I will try to be as simple as possible. You should all know that AIDS, also known as human immunodeficiency virus, is highly lethal, but its ability to infect is not too strong. This virus is in the virus research laboratory  The biosafety level here is only Level 2.

The filovirus we are discussing is biosafety level 4, which is currently the highest biosafety level.  "Mr. K looked at Lin Rui and Silver Wolf Michelle and said.

    Lin Rui was silent.

Mr. K looked at them and said, "I don't know if you have ever seen a patient caused by Ebola virus. I have seen it once, and I swear I never want to see it again in my life."

It was in the Congo, and the patient I saw had eyes the color of ruby, and his face was expressionless and covered in bruises.  Here and there the star-shaped red spots had spread and coalesced into large purple masses: his whole head had turned black and cyan.

The facial muscles are drooping, the connective tissue is melting, and the face seems to be hanging on the underlying bones, as if the face is gradually detaching from the skull.  He opened his mouth and vomited, and he kept vomiting. The vomiting would not stop. His stomach was already empty, but he kept spitting out black vomit.

Black vomitus is not completely black. The liquid has two colors: black particles like asphalt mixed with bright red arterial blood.  It was internal bleeding and smelled like a slaughterhouse.

That kind of black vomit is full of viruses, which is highly contagious and highly fatal.  I've seen it scare the life out of military biohazard experts.

Many patients¡¯ bodies were burned and their families were forcibly isolated.  You can't imagine the scene at that time.  I am a member of the special forces, have experienced actual combat, and have seen countless bloody scenes.  But what shocked me the most was this hemorrhagic fever.

If the secret society is conducting similar research, it is very likely that this terrible scene will reappear.  You should know the medical situation in Africa. Once this virus is really weaponized, the high-level virus outbreaks they cause will be difficult to control.  "

"I'm a little scared after what you said. So what do you mean by telling us this?" Lin Rui looked at Mr. K and asked.

Mr. K replied, ¡°I have said before that this Ebola virus is difficult to weaponize. Unless the virus is modified.

And the professor I just mentioned is an expert in filovirus and genetic technology.  I believe that this professor and his research will be the key to the secret society's ability to weaponize filoviruses.

I need you to help me find this professor, and I hope you can catch him alive.  I need to interrogate him to get more intelligence information.

Once it is proven that the research conducted by this professor is true, I will report the situation to my superiors.  I'm sure federal authorities will take this matter very seriously.  "

"It is better to say that you Americans will study this person highly. As far as I know, you Americans are also highly enthusiastic about virus weapons." Lin Rui mocked.

"Yes. But you have to understand that no country in the world can truly threaten the United States with force. Therefore, even if this technology is in the hands of the Americans, it will not be used easily.

Just like nuclear weapons, Americans have one of the largest numbers of thermonuclear weapons.  But since World War II, such weapons have never been considered for use.

¡°But if it falls into the hands of some small African countries, it¡¯s hard to say what the consequences will be.  This is just like the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Although it limits nuclear weapons to a few major powers, at least it will not trigger a nuclear war.

For example, it is like a loaded gun. It is self-evident which one is more dangerous in the hands of an adult or in the hands of a child.  An adult has self-control, a child does not.  Mr. K said seriously.

"So you want us to find that professor. So, who is hiring us for this mission? Is it you or the U.S. federal government." Silver Wolf shrugged, "I'm sorry to say this, but we have to figure out who is going to do this.  If we pay for each task, who should we charge?¡±

"Of course it's the federal government. I just work for the government. I can't afford such a huge fee. But for this mission, the federal government will never recognize it.

?Theoretically, this is a task that does not exist at all.  You should understand the reasons.  Mr. K shook his head.

"That means the U.S. government has noticed the secret society's unusual actions, but is unwilling to take further action." Lin Rui frowned.

"The existence of the Orumi Federation is good for the United States. This is one of the reasons. Another reason is that the high-level officials are still skeptical of this intelligence because I don't have any evidence." Mr. K replied  road.

"This is no ordinary mission. Not only is it highly dangerous, but it is also very sensitive at this time when the Orumi Federation is participating in tripartite negotiations. So how much do you plan to pay?" Silver Wolf Michelle looked at Mr. K and asked.

"I understand what you mean, but you should also understand that I have never let you suffer a loss in terms of price. We can talk in detail after you decide to take on this task." Mr. K replied.

"Lin Rui, what do you think?" Silver Wolf Michelle turned around and asked Lin Rui.

¡°The risk is too great, and I don¡¯t want to accept this mission. It¡¯s no problem for me to deal with living enemies. But this kind of mission involves a high risk of infection.

"I'm sorry, I don't want to lose any brothers. As for myself, I also want to live for two more years.  Lin Rui shook his head and said.
